the quick release plate, that you are calling the "mount piece" will just snap onto the head of the tripod - if you aren't sure, a good way is to take off the QR plate from the camera, and then, with the screw threads face up, see how it fits into the head - many times, you have to engage the spring lever, so when you set the plate inside the head, it will snap locked into place. Then, re-mount it on your camera, and do the same thing, and there ya go.

Quick release plates on all tripods are in two pieces. One stays on the tripod and provides a locking mechanism to secure the camera and the other stays connected to the tripod socket on the camera.
Call us at 800 735-4373 if you are in the USA. From your description of the problem the answer is no. We would have to know which tripod and exactly what broke.
What you can do is find a local welder or metal shop in your area. Take the tripod with you, and ask them to fabricate a aluminum or steel replacement "shoe" for your tripod. Also have them drill a hole in the center so you can later insert the proper threaded screw that will mount to your camera. You may want to take your camera and get the proper threaded bolt first before you get the shoe made, so they can make the hole the correct size. You can go to any hardware or home improvement store and ask for assistance to find the right thread for you camera equipment. The bolt should not be any longer than1 inch, so it will mount tight on your plate.
** Note you want a flush mount type bolt that when tightened on the plate is smooth on the bottom** This is so when you mount the shoe in the head, it will be properly seated.
