SOURCE: flash Does not work. Can only take pictures in flash-off mode

The problem you are describing is a problem with the flash charging indicator switch inside the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $83 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

SOURCE: Wont take a picture unless I turn off the flash

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't take a picture when the shutter button is pressed, or with an inoperative flash. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try:

SOURCE: My canon powershot a640's flash isnt flashing.

i had the same problem and was not interested in paying more than a new camera would cost. i did what jonathan222 did above (but without the shocking part) and now my flash works. i didn't even do much of anything besides taking the side and top off and poking around.

one quick edit to his post: after loosening the screws inside the battery compartment (i agree, don't take them completely out) you have to remove one screw in the AV/OUT compartment in order to release the top piece.

good luck, i hope this works for somebody else.

Orange light flashes on when turn on Olympus c-50 zoom camera and orange and green lights in upper left corner blink when try to take pictures. Won't take any pictures

The flashing Orange light means the charge is flashing.
The flashing Green light means the focus and exposure are not correct.

Have you recently replaced the batteries? Or are you using rechargeable batteries? Lack of enough "Juice" could allow for the flash to not charge up (Orange) therefore not allowing the camera to get the correct exposure (Green). I would try new fresh batteries or a new battery pack. If that doesn't fix the issue it must be a bad circuitry in the body that is shorting not letting the flash charge.

Regards,
Jacob

I put fresh batteries in my sb 600, i took a few pictures and then the flash was not as powerful and 2 red lights kept flashing on the front, why?

Ok, there are several things to consider. First of all, don't use standard alkaline batteries, the flash needs a lot of power and will drain those quickly. Use either lithium batteries (most powerful non-rechargeable) or invest in NiMH rechargeable batteries. Those would be your best choices for AA's.
Now to your flashing red lights - on the Speedlight flash they fulfill 2 functions, one is as auxiliary ready lights (if used as wireless remote flash) but the blinking in your case points to their other function - it blinks 3 times to indicate possible under exposure of your photos at maximum output level. It's basically telling you that the flash was not strong enough to properly illuminate the scene you tried to shoot. That doesn't necessarily mean the batteries are going flat, but you could simply be out of range of the maximum flash power. Your flash has a guide number of 30 - that means at a zoom head position of 35mm (if your lens is at 35mm) and your ISO is 100, then the maximum range of the flash is 30m (approx. 68ft). If your subject is further away, you would get an underexposure warning (3 blinks of the ready lights).
Hope that helps explain some things.

When ever i take a picture, the orange light turns on acting like its going to take a picutre but it doesnt. When i take it off flash, it takes the picture.

The orange light blinking means the flash is charging, once the light goes off you can go ahead take picture with flash. Your light keeps blinking because the flash is not ready.
Try with fully charged batteries. If it won’t work, you may have an open fuse or something wrong with the flash circuit.

Wont turn on but light is blinking

Are there any error messages on the LCD display?

Will the camera lens stay out when the camera is turned on?

Can you still take a photo/flash/sound without seeing the photo?

If the camera will not turn on even with a fresh set of batteries it could have a system or lens error in the camera.

a possible lens jamb when closed and the green led on top comes on then shuts off after the lens attemps to extend but cant.

Kodak Easyshare Z760 orange light flashing

The flash does not charge separate from the rest of the camera. Try cleaning the flash sensor on the front of the camera or the flash led may be bad.

Secondly, this light functions as a flash sensor which is trying to tell you that you need to use a flash although you may have the flash manually turned off. looks like a bolt of lightning with a circle/slash through it.
