I ordered a new kx-tg560m handset for my kx-tg5632 base unit, but the enclosed instructions for registering it with the base unit were wrong. Fortunately, I found the old quick setup guide in my files.
If you do not have the same base unit and handset, go to the URL:
1. On the handset, press [MENU], then press . The handset displays "Refer to manual to prepare base. Then press OK->"
2. On the base unit, press [SELECT] until the desired extension number [H1, H2, H3, or H4] is displayed on the base unit, then press and hold [CALL] until the CHARGE indicator flashes.
3. On the handset, press the [OK] softkey.
When the handset is off and sitting in the charger, the handset's extension is displayed in the upper right corner.

The 25-pair Amphenol connector is just something the industry uses because it's standard and easy. In a TDA system, the 8-port C.O. Trunk card uses the first 8 pairs, a 16-port the first 16 pairs, an 8-port Pana station card uses the first 24 pairs, 3 pairs per extension. The last pars don't have any hardware behind it and are connected to nothing.
The only phone system that I remember where all 25 pairs are used is a 1a2 10 button set and, maybe a Comdial system where the 25th pair is the common audible for station 17 :-)

Thanks for the user manual. This is the only place online I could find it...the other manuals are for installation only. I learned to push the up or down arrow on soft keys to make volume louder or softer. They have changed the page number. I found this on page 16.

The handset manual is here: http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/PANASONIC/KXTG1100CX-_E (you'll need to rate the product or enter security code to download).
I hope this helps.
