Door does not seal, hinge looks fractured. the door looks like it has dropped and does not seal at the top, also when lowing the door there is no resistance and it wants to just flop down. Both hinges look split, the oven is a Kenwood CKB200

As I said, the hinges looked fractured and split, I have replaced them both at a cost of £36 incusive of postage, it was a simple task. I just wanted to know if this was a design fault. Thanks very much for your reply.. Alan

You'll probably need to replace the whole door and hinges. the internal springs (inside the door) may have failed and allowed the door to drop and damage the hinges. don't believe it's fixable, but is replaceable.
at what cost, i can't guess- even if the parts are still available! compare the cost of fixing to the cost of replacing!
good luck!

It sounds like the hinges may be going bad on you. You can inspect them if you want to.
  1. First pull out the broiler oven.
  2. Now you can lift up on the oven door and remove it.
  3. The springs in these hinges have a lot of tension in them. Please be very careful when doing testing the hinges.
  4. Now take a pair of pliers and carefully grab the hinge and pull it towards the the oven.
  5. The hinge should be able to set itself up against the frame of the oven itself. If it does not then that hinge will need replaced.
  6. Check the other hinge.
  7. I am willing to bet that at least one of the hinges needs replaced.

The hinge on our westinghouse silhouett oven door may be damaged as the door will not give a tight seal can it be repaired or replaced and how, the rest of the oven works like new.

If it is a drop down door, then the hinges are not repairable, the only solution is to replace both door hinges, and not just the broken one.
Hope this helps.

The oven door (Model SMW272) does not close completely. It may need an adjustment or a new seal?

Generally speaking, if a oven door does not close properly, and it is a drop down door, then it usually due to weak springs in the hinges.
There is no adjustment provided, so the only solutiom is to replace both door hinges.

Thankyou.

Thermador oven door won't close all the way - seems like the seal is holding it open. I can press and hold it closed, but if I release, it pops out. The oven light stays on all the time. Model smw272

Have exactly the same situation. All the solutions I have seen talk about replacing the hinges or seal. But people report the same thing happens a month later. Looking hard at the door what it needs is something to pull it right at the top. So I installed a rare earth magnet from www.kjmagnetics.com I used part number BX884DCS which costs $4. It mounts with a couple of screws and I put it on the door a couple of inches down from the top.
Its possible that heat from the oven will kill the magnet over time but for $4 I can replace it for a lot less than hinges and it works great. The door closes more securely than it ever did when the oven was new.
Hope this helps.

I need to remove oven door, cant figure out how

drop the door down as low as it will go look carefully at the hinges as they pass through into the oven chassis you will see a clip on each one that you lift up to lock the hinge you usually lift them up as far as they will go then this will lock the hinges as you close the door the hinges will come away from the oven complete with door.... reverse to refit.

Re Neff B1451 oven door not sealing against oven body at top

If you take the hinges off, you can fit some washers between the hinges and the door to make it close it further. Probably not as good as new hinges, but cheaper. 2mm of washers will close a 5mm gap
