HI, Charging a depleted batteryIf you have not used or charged your MP3player for a long time, the player's battery can become depleted ordischarged. When the player is connected to a PC, Windows may notimmediately detect the player as being connected. It also might notshow any sign of activity (with the exception of the power LED). Another symptom of a depleted battery is that the player turns off immediately when it is switched on. To charge a depleted battery, follow these instructions:
Turn off the player.
Connect the player directly to a USB port located at the back of the PC with the supplied cable.
Avoidconnecting the MP3 player to USB hubs located in on the keyboard, monitor or other accessories. Also avoid using the USB hubs on thefront of the PC.
Close all Creative applications and Windows Media Player.
Let the player charge for at least 60 minutes.
If it is available, download and install the latest firmware for your player at www.creative.com/support/downloads. For more information about the firmware update, please refer to its Web Release Notes.Ifthe firmware update does not detect the player, unplug the player andplug it in again. You can also try a different USB port.
Do not disconnect the player once the firmware update is in progress.Whenthe firmware update is complete, the player will start chargingautomatically. If the player does not indicate that it is chargingafter 60 minutes, reset the player. thank you for using fixya, rate my answer, vijay

How can I tell if my Zen Vision M has a dead battery? I bought this years ago and used it briefly but havn't touched it since. When I plug it in (via the wall plug, not the computer) I can turn the unit on - I let it charge for about 8 hours yesterday but the second I unplug it, it turns off completely and I can only get it to turn back on when I plug it back in to the outlet. I wouldn't think the battery could be dead since it was probably only used for a total of 20 hours (max) but maybe because it's been sitting there unused the battery died??? How can I tell if it's really a dead battery or something else?

My Zen froze, so I hit the reset button. It gets to about 1/3 of 'rebuilding' and then freezes. Have tried letting the battery go flat & starting again - no joy. Computer is not recognising software while it is 'rebuilding'... It's never done this before usually it resets and then goes fine.
