VR-206 - how to wire in equalizer

How do I wire in an equalizer with a Kenwood vr-206. I suspect I want to take the pre-amp out, run this signal through the equalizer, and then bring the signal back into the VR-206. Which jacks on the back do I use for these functions?

Your vr-206 have several inputs dvd, vcr, tape decks, turn tables etc, also have an opcion called eq in and out usually if you dont have an equalizer al you do is jump straight rca to rca cables red in to red out and white in to white out.
but if you have an eq all you do is output from amp vr-206 to input and the input to output back to the amp

Hi, I just purchased a used set of 901s with the original active equalizer. they are both series VI and were bought together. Unfortunately, the man misplaced the installation instructions for the...

If no Amp is used, connect jacks ( Left, Right) from your receiver output to Bose equalizer Input ( L, R) where it says Amplifier. Then also under where it says Amplifier, connect jacks from Output to your speakers. This would require the type of speaker wires that are RCA (plug in, red and white) on one end bare wire on the other to the speakers.
I don't know what the output is on your Kenwood, but if it's low watts, an amp is much better to crank those Bose. It's a different connect with an amp. Go L &R from the receiver to Equalizer as before, then from equalizer to amp Input where it says Tuner. then hook bare speaker wires to back of amp to Bose speakers.
You should have full use of Bose controls. The Monitor button is for an extra component that can be hooked up on the back, right side of equalizer.

I understand the diagram with the +12v and the gnd wires, but does the third wire only work with other Kenwood products? It appears to be a "sense" wire or similar that feels the presence of a powered-up...

Hello davec99,

The third wire is commonly called a "remote" wire and is used to turn on other devices, such as an amp, connected to the audio system. When the equalizer is off, there's no signal on the wire. When the equalizer is on, a low current 12V signal is on the wire, signalling the remote device to turn-on.

Hope this helps.

Record Player has minimal sound

Has the VR 715 got a dedicated phono socket? If so use that. If you are using it, you need to check with the instructions to see if it has an inbuilt Magnetic Cartridge Preamp. If it doesn't then you need a to get a pre-amp to hear it.
If the device was previous giving out good sound then either the cartridge has gone or the same pre-amp inside the unit has failed. It will not affect any other function.
To test the cartridge. Remove the connection wires to it remembering where they connect (write it down). Then with the device on. Switched to phono. Touch the end of each wire with your finger one at a time. You should hear a loud buzz on two of the wires, one on each channel, nothing on the other two wire.
If you get the loud buzz that shows the pre-amp is working and the cartridge needs to be replaced. If you do not get a buzz, or it is very weak. Then the pre-amp has failed and needs replacing.
