Question about Samsung RS2534 Side by Side Refrigerator
This unit has a history of problems on the refrigerator side. the basic reset is press and hold down the 2 middle buttons on the freezer at the same time. As a general rule the number one problem is in the mother board. usually you can replace it and everything will work.

My Samsung refrigerator did the same thing.
Your evaporator is frozen over with ice and even though the evaporator fan runs, there's no air flow. The evaporator coil is fairly easily accessed at the back of the inside or the refrigerator by removing several screws inside the refrigerator that hold the panel that covers the evaporator coil. I defrosted mine once to twice weekly for several weeks until I fixed the problem. There will be ice in the insulating foam passageways on the back of the panel too. You can't see this without removing the fan from the panel.
Here's what mine required: I replaced the computer board, the thermal fuse on the evaporator coil and the temperature sensor on the evaporator coil, one item at a time until it started cooling normally It has worked well several months since I did this and the tank for the water dispenser no longer freezes.
Samsung was of no help since it was out of warranty by two months. They told me I could take my refrigerator to one of their repair stations, most likely in another state. They didn't offer any troubleshooting tips. The Koreans have a lot to learn about doing business in the USA. We expect our refrigerators to be reliable and operate for many years. I suppose it isn't this way in Korea.
A refrigerator barely over a year old should not have problems of this type. I spent over $300 for the various parts and a manual. However, I once again have a nice refrigerator.
I have two Samsung computer monitors that failed under warranty. I had to ship them back and was without them for two to three weeks but Samsung repaired or replaced them and they are still working three years later.
Because of my refrigerator experience, Samsung lost the sale of a big LCD TV to me sometime in the future as well as any other appliances.

I have a RS2544SL side by side Samsung with a defrost sensor failure light upon a plug-in reboot, according to the service manual, which I purchase from Samsung so that I could help a local service provider unsuccessfully fix the unit.
The unit was less than 3 years old when I started having problems. The freezer side works although the unit will not re-boot following a power outage because is hangs-up on the defrost sensor flashing light on the front display.
Samsung service providers have stopped working on Samsung refrigerators and Samsung would not suppor the repair.
I had an independent service provider install a new defrost sensor but the reboot-pluging program still hangs-up at the defrost sensor despite a newly installe defrost sensor from Samsung.
The freezer side continues to work well and problems continue with the refrigerator side. The unit continues to fail during power-outages because it hangs-up on the warning light. I by-pass by holding both power freeze and power refrigerator buttons for 10 second as described in the service manual. After by-passing the warning light, the performance of the refrigeration side continues to be unreliable.
What is my next step to get my relatively new Samsung side-by-side refrigerator fixed, since Samsung will not back their warranty and Costco where I bought the unit also will not backup the warranty and purchase.

I have the same issue...I have replaced both refrigerator side sensors (defrost and refrigerator). I also replaced the entire bottom-half of the refrigerator ductwork (including fan and defrost heater). I am still having the issue...any ideas will help!

The water filter has nothing to do with your issue. If what you are saying is correct, it is a compressor or related problem with a 5 year warranty.
