The blue screen is the windows blue screen of death. witch means your hardrive and/or windows has crashed. As your computer boots up you will see a HP screen, read the bottom it should say something like "system restore press f8" Just press what ever yours tells ya to for a system restore.

Follow the prompts on your screen. You may need to have the cd that came with the comptuer. If so on one of your tries trying to start up the comptuer see if u can open the cd rom and pop it in, then turn it off and start it back up.

good luck

For that you need recovery disk or windows xp bootable disk.
For that put that disk in rom. Then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios .
Then go to boot option set first boot device as your cd or dvd rom then save settings and exit.
Then it boot with disk then follow the procedure then enter in recovery console then type in prompt "chkdsk /r"
then press "y"
then it recovers error on harddisk.
Then check.
If still face same issue then you have to choose repair option so it fix windows.
This blue error comes when there is issue in bed indexing in harddisk.
Let me know if you need more assistance.
Thanks.

HP HP Pavilion dv2000 black screen

If you are using Windows XP:

Switch ON the PC, boot the PC in 'Safe Mode' by continuously tapping F8 button after you switch On until you get the Safe Mode Option.

Let windows boot in Safe Mode and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'

A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next

Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.

If you can start in "safe mode", go to "control panel" then, find "device manager" and right click on it. Find "dispaly adaptors" in the list and click on the box at right beside this. It should drop down and how your device. Right click on it and you should see a window showing, "enable" or "disable". If it shows "enable", click on that and you should be set.

I m using ur model HP PAVILLION DV2000

Sounds like you have a driver issue.

Start up in safe mode (press the F8 button about once per second after you power on), and select safe mode with networking.

When you get into windows, use windows update to download all updates for both software and hardware (update will till you that there are optional updates available, download these as well),

Hopefully when all that has completed you should be able to run your computer as normal. If not there may be a problem with the memory installed on the laptop.
