You're problem is most likely caused by melted heat sink compound (found on eBay shipping to Canada included for 3$) thats what happened to mine, so ship it back if its on its warranty if not, check it open and watch a vidio HOW on you tube.

This is quite a common problem where the display is not showing but you can still hear sound.

The reason is happens is because the scaler chip which deals with the display is overheating you can fix it yourself with household items or send it back into Microsoft to fix this error.

Plays dvds on xbox 360 fine, but no picture for games/dashboard

already solved it. thanks. i couldn't see the xbox settings blade because of the blank screen so switched my component cable to the tv setting instead of the hdtv setting, then i could see the dashboard in non-hd and switched the resolution to 720p while simultaneously switching the component cable back to the hdtv setting. that worked.

Xbox 360 problem

If you can still HEAR sound, but can't see. Check your Audio Video Cable.

It's the colorful one (red, white, yellow) (red, blue green, white, red)

Make sure the connections are secure into the back of the TV as well as the connection to the back of the Xbox 360.

I would try some of these troubleshooting steps;

  1. Make sure that the AV cables are 100% secure.
  2. Try an new AV cable.
  3. Try your console on a different TV.
  4. Call xbox customer support at 18004MYXBOX
