Re: Sandisk SD card 512MB

Canon will let you reformat mem chip while in camera.
card reader will let your computer manage the disc. card readers cost about 8.00 but are already in some computers ...later models.
delete first
then put back into camera and reformat.
should be same for nikon.
don't use other cameras, so would suggest you read the camera manual.

Your camera is able to take SD cards up to 2gb and SDHC cards up to 4GB. The error message may just be that the camera needs you to format the card in the camera.

When you remove the card from the computer, do you use the "safely remove hardware" function? If you don't, the card can become corrupted enough that your camera no longer recognizes it.

Z3 will not accept a 2g card

The Dimage Z3 accept SD cards up to 1GB (Minolta says 512 Mb, and sold it with 16Mb). This camera is 4MP , and uses less memory on card, therefore a 512MB card will be enough for it.

This camera only supports an SD card of 1GB maximum. I tried a 2GB SD card and the camera reported the error you describe, that the card needs to be formatted (and it wouldn't format in the camera, either). I purchased a 1GB Duracell SD card P/N DU-SD-1024-C at Wal-Mart, and it was actually a 2GB card (tested in my desktop PC's SD slot and it was fine). Nice deal, but this camera can't use it. I bought a 3-pack of Kodak 1GB SD cards at Wal-Mart and they worked great in this camera.
