I fixed this problem by replacing the power supply board. The model number for my board is EAY42539401. It cost me $55 plus shipping. A Google search for the board model number should bring up a few suppliers.

I would expect the power supply to be failing.

When I hit the power button on my 32" Vizio Plasma

Hello,

You have a TV with a failing power supply board. There are parts in the power supply called capacitors that start failing and this causes the power supply to not be able to properly filter the voltages. When you keep turning it on and off the capacitors will finally hold a charge correctly so the voltages will stabilize and the TV turns on ok until the next time you turn it off. As time goes by the capacitors will degrade more until the TV will not work any more. If you can solder then you should be able to repair the TV yourself. We have a page on our web site http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/capacitors/
That explains what capacitors are and how to determine the bad ones that have failed. If you replace the failed capacitors in the power supply then you should have a working TV again.

Hi, the problem probably started with the stand by power supply, but by now there is some other area giving you trouble. There are some troubleshooting ideas you can try in your owners manual, but I recommend subscribing to fixya tech support, where you can get some trouble areas you can locate without going into to much technical procedures, that is if you are willing to try repairing it yourself.
