I need a program that I can hookup between my old WinXP machine and my new Vista 64-bit machine so that I am able to transfer my PROGRAMS(that I have purchased) from one machine to the other. In the past I was able to use a program called Alohabob to accomplish this task. Do you know of a program or a method that can do that?

Hi,

You can purchase PC Mover from Laplink to move the programs and data from your Windows XP-based PC to the new Vista-based PC.

For more details and features, click on this link

Also, it supports 64-bit versions of Windows, read the FAQs here

Hope this solves your problem. For more help and clarifications, please reply to this post. Thanks

read this ...its about the software you mentioned...but I sow that its about transfering the setings and all ...if you planing in just moving data like media...and such ..its easier to
http://compnetworking.about.com/od/homenetworking/a/connecttwocomp.htm
if the computers are both already connected to internet ..that you can use
http://www.teamviewer.com/download/index.aspx
its a program that allow you to connect yoursef from a pc ..to another one desktop and even let you remote control it ...and it has also file transfer between them ..
also ...a fire-wire cable it will do the job ...and will let you connect the computers for to change data between them ...
["Using a FireWire cable, you can connect directly two computers via FireWire ports. You don't need additional software to connect two computers running Windows XP (or ME) using a FireWire cable. Windows XP has built-in support for FireWire networking, that's using IPv4 over IEEE 1394 (a.k.a. TCP/IP over 1394). A FireWire card is identified as 1394 Net Adapter and a 1394 Connection is created under LAN or High-Speed Internet in Network Connections folder. You can configure your network and Internet connection sharing using the Network Setup Wizard or manually from Network Connections folder."]
So ..in short ..i understood that aloha bob its a good software ..but it might be too much for what you are trying to do ,,,its main doing is to transfer applications and such ...and probably update and patch 'em during it ...however ..it probably will work for data too ..but Im not sure if you can choose what you want to do ...anyway ..it specify that it will do you no harm in the settings ..

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I have PC LOCATOR from aloha bob, usedit on XP now want to relocate to new PC has VISTA giving me problem will it work with vista?

I did warn you about possible problems.
My only advice now is to stay in contact with support from them

I was unable to access the web site and the support email was actually a YAHOO one which in itself would ring warning bells in my head.

You might find an expert to help you and I hope you do but given that you were advised of problems with this software you might want to seek a refund from the supplier.

Will Aloha Bob cables transfer to Vista Easy Transfer?

Microsoft bought Aloha Bob and shut the company, and its support sites down. Microsoft also removed all info from its website about this acquisition. The company's software was integrated into Windows Vista.

Without the ability to update the program, it is freezing. Refer to the below website for information on Aloha Bob.

PC Backup doesn't work with Windows Vista

You must check the package to ensure that the program is windows vista compatable. Please do note that Vista does have its own back software embedded. Simply type into the start search bar on the start menu backup and recovery.
