Question about KitchenAid KSRB22FK Side by Side Refrigerator
KSRB22F Kitchenaid Sidebyside:
Freezer isn't cold anymore, all food is thawing. Air is blowing out top vent of freezer, but is only a little cooler than room temp. Too early to tell if fridge has gone out too, but it seems like it probably isn't as cold as it should be. Might be my immagination. On the back of the unit, I see that a fan near the floor on the freezer side is running. I unplugged it for a minute or two and thought it sounded good when I plugged it back in. It is now making periodic clicks.
Is there any thing for me to do? Switches to flip or buttons to push? I am not an electrician, but I am handy with a volt meter and whatnot.
The clicks, if coming from the back in the area of the compressor behind the cardboard backing, is probably the starter/overload relay. You can test it with an ohm meter. See how here> http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/freezer/check/compressorrelay2.php
Part 15 here is your relay. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=KSRB22FGBL00&productCategoryId=0165000&brandId=0593&modelName=SIDE-BY-SIDE-REFRIGERATOR&diagramPageId=00008&componentDescription=UNIT&documentId=O2027756&blt=06
If the relay is good the problem is with the compressor and will require a tech to replace which is not cheap.

Most of the times the problem in Kitchenaid refrigerators when you heard a clicking sound it's the compressor trying to start and goes off on overload ,this could be , a bad compressor or a bad relay ,but 90% of the time is the relay that's bad .Try replacing the relay first (no more than $30) It is located on the side of the compressor behind the black plastic cover (the cover has a metal strip around and attached to the compressor) Once you take the cover off you'll see the relay (brown) and the thermal protector ,both are plugged in to the compressor.Pull the relay or both out (remember or write down where the wires go) and buy the same one and replace it, if still don't work ,the problem is with the compressor itself.
