Question about Creative Labs ZEN V Plus MP3 Player

Zen v 1 GB

I updated my zen v firmware and since then, none of the functions are working like they should. For example when I press the button to turn the volume up, it pauses or plays the music. When I press play a keylock icon appears on the top right hand corner of the screen and it will not play. The joystick does not do its normal functions. I even tried to reset the player and it is still not functioning properly. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you loaded the correct firmware? otherwise put on a lower version of firmware see if that corrects the problem.

My Creative ZEN 8 GB has Firmware Problems


Try uninstalling Windows Media Player version 11 from your computer before trying to reload the firmware. It works wonders.

Getting out of recovery mode


The recovery tool mentioned above is not designed for the sleek photo. You need to download the firmware for the sleek photo from creative's site. Now we need to get your player recognized to get the firmware loaded. If you have Windows Media Player 11, it needs to be removed. Also remove WMP runtime. After that, restart the pc and your player should be recognized. You can then double click on the firmware program to run it. It might say something like, this firmaware is already installed...do you want to reload it? Click yes to reload.

I had the same problem with my sleek photo. Once I got rid of WMP and the runtime everything worked like a charm.

Light comes on and its frozen how do i reset?


Has the player been dropped recently? or had a serious shock? It sounds like the hard drive is not starting correctly, which would prevent the zen from accessing the start files on the drive.
If this is so, check the warranty, if it is still in warranty, send it off. otherwise you may need to look into buying a new player.

ZenV Freezes
Have you tried updating the firmware of your Zen V Plus? I've had mine for almost an year and haven't had these issues -- I updated the firmware as soon as I unpacked it.

Before returning the player, try downloading the
MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.

By the way, before updating the firmware, let the battery have a full charge, ok?

Creative Zen Firmware Problem


press play/pause, press reset button and slide power button
will bring u to recovery mode

then u reload firmware and it will erase the firmware and will connect it again to windows. then u download and install a new firrware fromc reative site and voilla.
