Hello

Well my first thought is that you blew your sub. Does your amp have a power light on ? Is it green or red ?

If you have an extra sub or amp, or a friend does. Try switching one or the other out (sub would be easiest) and rule out which one is really at fault. But im still leaning towards a blown sub.

Post back if you have any further question's or comments. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

Burnt voice coil??

Sounds to me like your amp is clipping. You can tell by watching the power lights on the amp when your system is cutting out. If so, the most common problem with this, is a bad ground, otherwise, the problem is internal and the amp will need to be repaired or replaced. If your speakers were burnt at all, or defective, they would simply not work anymore. Hope this helps, good luck.

PS-212 Suddenly stopped working

I HAVE 4 PS212 AND FROM WHAT YOU ARE DISCRIBING SOUNDS SIMILIAR TO WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. PLAYING THE SUB AT FULL VOLUME AND CLIPPING OCCURED NOT KNOWING THAT THE FAINT SMELL WAS THE VOICE COIL BURNING AND CONTINUING TO PLAY UNTIL KNOW SOUND LESSON LEARNED BUY A BIGGER SUB SYSTEM OR REPLACE YOUR SUB WOOFER.
IN MY OPPINION THIS IS A VERY GOOD PRODUCT WHICH I HAVE BEEN ABUSEING FOR MONTHS . SO QUIT WHINEING AND PAY YOUR DUES.

Sub cutting out

Check the 12v wire running from the battery to the amplifier. Also the sony explode is a garbage subwoofer compared to the Alpine.. sony (they say 1200w max but its more like 100w to power the thing) Amp could be going. Is the amplifier hot when running. If there is a burnt smell comming from the amp, its the amplifier

Amp staying on but cutting out?

Hello Willb2396,

Actually you answered your own question in your paragraph. I draw your attention to your statement of:
"It will work for as long as I'm driving I will park my car, and when I turn it back on every thing will be working just fine and, then a couple minutes later, amp cuts out and won't hit for a couple hours or a couple days.... I have checked the sub multiple times and I don't see it being the sub or the amp"

You are correct it is neither the Sub nor the Amp. The problem is either your voltage regulator or your alternator. one and or the other is going bad.

Here is some advice check your ground wires, the buy a dual alternator kit, it contains the parts you will need to add an additional alternator to your car. This will provide the power you need.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Time to go to the repair shop. Sounds like you have a blown amp. Good luck.
