This is the audio driver that you need to get your sound to work. Once you have downloaded and installed this, restart your computer. It should work. If it doesn't you could check your settings to make sure it is installed properly. To do this, right click My Computer - go to Properties - go to Hardware tab - click Device Manager. If there are any yellow question marks or red x's you know that something is amiss. Hope this helps.

What you could do is uninstall the sound driver and the reinstall it. To do this is right click My Computer - Properties - Hardware - Device Manager - find your audio device, right click, click uninstall. Even sometimes disabling it and the enabling it again works. However, if these things do not work, it is possible that you may need a new sound card. These can be purchased seperately from the motherboard, just like a video card. It is also possible that your speakers are malfunctioning. There is no way to no for sure without opening up the laptop and testing it. If you are not an experienced hardware user, I would recommend taking it in to a local computer shop. Not a big box store because they will charge you an arm and a leg. Go to a store where it looks like it's been filled with computer parts that are all dusty and lying all over the place. That is how you know you'll get someone who knows what they're doing. They will have testers there that they can test the speakers and the sound card. They will be able to tell you for sure what is wrong in no time at all. Hope this helps.

If your hard drive is still working fine, you shouldn't need to reinstall Windows again. Most of the time your PC will perform as it did before your motherboard died by simply reinstalling the original hard drive.
If not then do this.
Reinstall windows with your restore CD, and with most gateway laptops you should have a drivers and applications CD that restores your motherboard drivers and applications to their original locations.

If you lost your drivers CD, you can download them all here.

http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?st=pn&param=5376

When asked, you should allow XP updates so that Service Pack 3 can install. This will add a few windows based drivers to your laptop that may be necessary for better video, audio and wireless performance.

Your restore CD may not ask for your CD Key, this is typical for a Vendors original restoration, but if for some reason it does, the number on the back of your laptop will work. Mine validated just fine.

Ran recovery on system xp on a mx6025, lost drivers, using network adapt from work computer please help . installed recovery from grc will not run correctly

As long as you can install a basic windows install and internet connecivity, windows update/ windows service packs should provide most of the drivers you need. If not you'll need to visit the manufactorers website and download any drivers that are available.

Have problem with windows Xp pro.

You can get the correct drivers from the Gateway website. Use another computer and download all the Windows XP files for that model number from the website. You need your model number of your pc. Get the files for your motherboard, video, sound card, network card, etc. save them to a usb key or a burn them to a cd. Take the usb key/cd to the other system and load the drivers.

This will get your system back up and running in now time.

I hope this helps you.
