Something was erased from my computer and now it shows a windows boot manager screen. I have tried the disks it came with but nothing works. Is this a repairable problem?

In the system if some of files them should be deleted it will affect the system and it cause error or corrupt. In term of repairable it is not the hardware you need to repair but it's only the software. Just load a windows CD to the CD room drive and boot the CD after that follow the readable instruction there it will ask you to repair or a fresh copy of windows. Good luck and more power

Hope it is helpful for you

If you have windows recovery disk , you may try to repair it from that disk. Otherwise you have to setup operating system again. In that case you should get help from an expert. Thanks.

My iqon hard drive will power up but i cant access it

Clicking sound on an external hard drive is an indication that it's quiting to work. You mentioned that it's just stopped working, you may need to check the Disk Management of your computer to see if you could still reformat it. To do this, please follow the steps below:

FOR WINDOWS XP AND VISTA:

1. Make sure that the HD is properly connected to the computer.
2. Right-click 'My Computer' or 'Computer' folder and then go to "Manage".
3. Locate and click Disk Management.
4. Then, take note of the drive letters that will appear on the screen.
5. While the Disk Management window is opened, unplug the HD and check which drive letter will disappear.
6. If a drive letter disappears, then that is your external 250GB HD. You may reformat it to make it work again.

NOTE: Reformatting the HD will erase all the files saved in it. You may want to bring your HD in any data recovery center to retrieve the important files. If the HD didn't show up under your Disk Management, then there's nothing that we could do but to bring your HD in to the Data Recovery to save the files.

FOR MACINTOSH OSX:

1. Connect your HD to the computer.
2. Click 'Go' (located near the Apple icon, Finder, File, Edit and View).
3. Select Utilities and then click the Disk Utility Icon.
4. Take note the drive letters and then unplug the HD.

If a drive letter disappears, that's your HD. If nothing disappears, then the computer no longer detecting the HD.

Good luck!

The startup of windows has been corrupted due to a virus or other operating system errors. You will need to reinstall the operating system and start from scratch.

My hp beeps and shows a black screen when trying to start up

Hp Support ---->Link.
or :
Cause 1 This issue may occur if you have a CD, a DVD or a floppy disk in your CD, DVD, or floppy drive when you start the computer. Cause 2 This issue occurs if one or more of the following elements are corrupted and will not load during the boot sequence of the computer:
  • Master boot record
  • Partition tables
  • Boot sector
  • NTLDR file

Method 1: Troubleshoot the specific element that causes Windows not to loadNote This option requires that you perform multiple steps to determine the exact element that causes the issue. This option may allow for you to keep customizations in Windows.
  1. Restart your computer in safe mode. To do this, press the F8 key while Windows is starting. Then, create a Windows XP boot disk to start the computer.

For more information about how to create a Windows XP boot disk, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 305595 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305595/ ) How to create a bootable floppy disk for an NTFS or FAT partition in Windows XP 315222 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222/ ) A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP If you can start the computer from the boot disk without receiving an error message, the damage is limited to the master boot record, the boot sector, or the NTLDR file. After Windows XP is running, immediately back up all data before you try to fix the boot sector.

Use Disk Management to view the partition information and to verify that the disk partition (or partitions) is correct. To use Disk Management, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
    2. Expand Storage, and then click Disk Management.
If invalid partitions are present or you cannot start your computer by using a boot disk, consider reinstalling Windows XP on your computer and restoring your data and configuration information from a recent backup.

If you do not have a current backup copy of the data on the computer, contact a computer specialist to determine the best method of data recovery and configuration.
  2. Run a current virus scanning program to verify that no virus is present.
  3. Repair the master boot record by using the FIXMBR command from the Windows XP Recovery Console.

Acer Aspire One D250-1042 shows desktop wallpaper but won't load

Start by logging on as the Administrator so you can check the Task Manager and find out what Application or Process is monopolizing the system.

If the system is still unresponsive boot into Safe Mode. (Press F8 before the Windows startup screen appears.) If everything is fine in Safe Mode type MSCONFIG at the Command Prompt and start disabling features until you find the culprit.

Last resort, buy or borrow an external USB CD/DVD drive and use it to reinstall Windows.

Important: Reinstalling will ERASE the hard drive.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Trying to boot from windows CD and not working

If its the full windows xp cd by booting it from the cd drive it will erase everything and ask if you want to upgrade or advanced install I think. Your correct in choosing the atapi cd-rom as 1st boot device. The cd should be in the drive on startup. IDE is the type of hard disk drive. I'm guessing the FDD stands for floppy disk drive which you might not have that many but you have that many bay windows available.

Put disk in, shut down computer, Start computer and it should give you the xp disk contents. Be aware of data loss though.

hi,

I think low level formatting should do the trick. you can download it and its free. In your case try to download the DOS based version. This type of formatting erases the entire disk clean.

Your description of the symptom shows that your operating system installation has been corrupted. Fastest and easiest way to resolve the Issue using the "Recovery and application disk" (it comes with laptop) to perform full system recovery.
