Thank you michael_grey. I have done that & now I am waiting for the hour. The led read out keeps flashing Check printer (then press OK). As I said before I am not sure what I am supposed to check. BUT as you suggested, I have removed the cartriges & the print head & removed the machine from all power sources. Will see!!! Thank you. Will let you know.

SOURCE: canon printer pixma mp780 makes repeated clicking

This is the Automatic Sheet Feeder [ASF] Cam Sensor Error

Movement may cause the plastic guide to move away from the chassis which causes the gears not to rotate properly causing a grinding noise and 5 alternating blinks (SFP) or ##356 (MFP) - ASF Cam Sensor Error.

Remedy: Adjust the Screws & Main Case Unit

Step 1: Remove the Left & Right Covers and the Main Case Unit (main cover).
Step 2: Remove the 4 mounting screws from the Chassis.
Step 3: Remove the Main Unit from the Bottom Case.
Step 4: Turn the Main Unit over (upside down) and place on work surface.
Step 5: Inspect the ASF section of the Main Unit for a gap between the white plastic guide and the Chassis. The size of the gap varies. Even if the gap is not visible, complete the steps below.

Step 6: Disconnect the appropriate cables and remove the Logic Board from the Chassis.
Step 7: Loosen but DO NOT remove the 4 mounting screws which can be located behind the logic board on the Chassis.
Step 8: Reseat the white plastic guide so it sits flush against the Chassis. The tip of the white plastic guide should sit slightly inside the mounting screw hole. When seated correctly, the gap will no longer be present.
Step 9: Tighten the 4 mounting screws without causing the plastic guide to shift.
Step 10: Reassemble the printer and retest.

I have a canon pixma mp780 all in one printer. It keeps saying add paper but the paper tray is full.

Check the feed switch, you can put paper in the bottom tray or the top feeder and you press the feed switch to change from one to the other, when the rollers are dirty and paper doesn't pick up you also get that error.

Message: Check Printer Press OK (No Code)

Could be many things, you have to enter service mode to get the actual error, could be waste ink full, purge or feeder error, printhead failure, I would bet on waste ink full, a shop repair.

Try Canon support. Type your query. Click "Search"
Example: Type "clear ADF" (You may have paper or some obstruction in the Auto Document Feeder).

Error message 6A00

Hi

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Software for canon pixma mp780

Not knowing where you are from, I can only give the following help.

Do a Google search using the following text:

pixma mp780 +driver

Note the "+driver" (no space between the "+" and the word "driver").

This will bring up a lot of sites where you can dowload the drivers.
