Question about Hitachi 42HDT55 42 in. Plasma Television

Open Question

Hitachi Plasma TV will not turn on.

When I returned home the other day, my digital clocks were all flashing after an appearant power failure. Since then, my Hitachi 42HDT55 will not turn on. The AVC box seems to be OK but I get nothing from the screen unit. I have cycled the power button and checked the connections and everything is in order. Is there a fuse or circuit breaker that may have been tripped when the power went off or when it came back on?

SOURCE: ESA 42" plasma tv not turning on

I have a 42 inch plasma and I was watching tv last night on it and suddenly it turned off on it's own. I tried turning it off and on and nothing happened. Then I tried to unplug it and replug it and nothing. My remote does not work either. Anyone know what exactly happened? Did my screen blow or what? I hardly ever use the tv and I only had it on from 8:30 p.m. - 10:20 p.m. and it turned off. All the other tv's in my house worked fine - I checked them. Also, my dvd player and cable box is on the same power cord and both of them work. Any solutions or help would be most appreciated!!! Does it just need to cool down or did I burn something out? Help!!!

So the lines goes up and down or is it across from side to side, if it's side to side then it's your terminal power board.

A lot of modern day tv;s have power supply failures due to capacitors drying out , you can sometime tell which ones are faulty if they swell up or deform. if so they need replaced. Not a hard job for some one who is experienced,

When TV is off and there is a power outage the TV

This TV has a Power Standby feature (pg. 40 of your manual) which allows you to more quickly turn ON the TV. When power is lost and then restored, your TV will display the HP logo screen while it boots the digital circuits. After it is finished, (unless it was previously turned on) it should appear to be OFF. This is normal operation. If you like, you can change this setting to LOW POWER. At this setting, each time you turn on the TV, you will see the HP Logo screen and picture/sound will appear after 20 seconds. Again, take a look at pg. 40 of your owners manual for more information.

Plasma wnt stay on

I have had this problem in some models of plasma sets before. In most cases the power supply and main drive boards had to be replaced. In a small number of cases the failure was the screen itself.

In all cases, the cost of the repair was expensive. For the screen failure, the set was scrapped.

Tv wont turn on

I paid to have one of the experts on this page help me with my Hitachi 55 in, and all they would recommend was to replace the Convergence Amplifiers. I read elsewhere, that this TV has a habitual problem with fuse E994 and a capacitor c707. I just replaced both for a little more than $5.00, and the TV came back to life!!!! I'll try to find the web page that I referenced for the repair, and let you know.

Screen does not switch on, mode light flashes orange

Need to remove the Input module circuit box from the bottom of the center and wait for few minutes before putting it back.

This will reset the system from this persistant power off problem.

Best way to prevent it from happening again is to manually switch of the power switch before doing any powering off and on. Most commonly happens during a power failure and power coming back on with the switch in the on position.
