Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

Speakers do not work but headphone jack does work on notebook computer

    there is a light on in the headphone jack... almost like the headphone jack is locked on, even with no headphones plugged in... Headphones do work when they are plugged in however.. the speakers do not under any circumstances.

My headset is not working

If no sound is coming out of your headphones, this is most likely caused by a configuration issue that can be resolved with a few simple steps.

Basic Headphone Troubleshooting
If no sound is coming from your headphones, confirm that the headphones work properly by using them with a different device. After this, confirm that the headphones are plugged into the proper jack. If your CD/DVD drive has a headphone jack in front, audio will only be played through this jack when you are playing a disc. On a desktop computer, the correct jack to use for headphones is usually color-coded green, while notebook computers will have headphone icons next to the correct jacks. Finally, check the speaker icon in the system tray to make sure that your sound output is not muted. b> Troubleshooting Notebooks b> Most Dell notebooks use a special type of audio jack. The jack, along with the sound drivers that are installed, automatically detect whether headphones or speakers are plugged in and adjust the sound output accordingly. If this does not happen when headphones are plugged in, the sound drivers may be at fault. Visit the Dell support website and download the most recent sound drivers for your notebook. If this does not help, some users have reported success with removing the sound drivers completely and letting Windows install generic drivers automatically. Last Resort b> If all other options have been exhausted, the last resort in troubleshooting a headphone jack is running a complete system recovery operation. This will completely erase all of the information on your primary hard drive partition and reinstall Windows along with the drivers for all of your hardware. This is an extreme measure, as you will lose all of the information that you have stored on the hard drive. However, it will resolve the issue if it is caused by a software problem. I reinstalled my operating system after that my speaker disn't work


Sound is not working. Headphones would work just fine but the built-in speakers stopped working. try to update and reinstall the drivers. The speakers would sometimes work for a second when removed the headphone jack. sometimes it was a short in the jack connection or just a bad connector in the jack. Sooo, just plugg in the headphone jack a bunch of times and after about 20 seconds the speakers will work just fine.

I have an Acer Aspire Notebook. When I plug headphones into the audio jack there is no sound, however, the sound works fine from the notebook speakers. Can anyone help me?


Hi, May I know if have tried alternate headphones and if they are the same?Does the headphone work when wiggled within the port if yes then the issue is with the headphone jack being loose and you would need to send the computer for a repair if covered by the manufacturers warranty as the headphone jack needs to be replaced. Sound through headphones only.


Try the speakers on another computer, to see if they work at all. If they do, then the problem is the audio-interface on your computer (or DVD-player, or home-stereo system).

No sound from speakers


The earplug socket in the computer is faulty, needs replacing.

What is going on is that there is a contact that the plug pushes open.
That contact for some reason is not closing when the plug is pulled out.

Sound is working but internal speaker is not working


Connecting headphones to the system will disabled the internal speakers until the headphone jack is disconnected, at which such time the internal speakers should function again.

If you disconnect the headphones and the internal speakers are not re-activated, then there may be damaged to the microswitch in the jack. (Try rebooting after the headphones are disconnected too)

Headphone jack broken speakers wont work


Yes, since the Headphone pin is stuck in the Jack, you are not getting audio from Speakers.

You should have noticed that connecting the headphones to the Jack will block the audio coming from the Speakers and the same is the current situation.

You can either try removing the blocked part using a Tweaser or get it repaired.
