Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
I bought a brand new in box Playstation 3 80gb from a seller off Ebay situated in Hong Kong. The sellers name is 'fashions-mall' whos Ebay profile can be found here -> http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/fashions-mall . The feedback on the guys account is very good and after seeing majority of consumers from the UK who bought from him happy with no problems i felt that i was convinced i would get my PS3 product safe & sound with the same customer satisfaction.
After receieving the console after a 2+1/2 week period from clearance of payment i was buzzin' to get to grips with the new beast which offers so much. I purchased Call of Duty 4 & Colin Mcrae Dirt before the console arrived so i could play on it immediately.
Then tonight Friday 21st Dec 07' i took the console round my mates to have a blitz on his 37" HDTV. We played on Call of Duty 4 for around three hours, then whilst we just finished one level and the next was loading it just froze. The loading bar didn't move whatsoever for a few minutes, so we decided to turn off and restart the game knowing that the game data is automatically saved inbetween levels so we didn't lose any of our progress.
Ever since this has occured the console will not load/ read any of my games from the PS3 menu. I have tried everything from restoring the PS3 system to trying other discs - dvds/ ps2 games/ cds... and also leaving it off for a while to see whether it will load.
All i get is an icon illuminating in the top right corner whilst a game is in the drive, which appears to be a disc.
Now i'm right p***ed as you can imagine & am stuck with a machine that i can do nothing with. I have tonight subscribed with continuous play from the playstation.com website who offers full protection on their consoles. I think this is the only option because when you read fashions-malls terms of sale (who i bought the PS3 from) it reads ->
""Only defective mechandises are available for exchange within SEVEN days of receipt. Please e-mail us about the damage conditions and return the items with the original packaging. We will be replacing the same or similar items. No used goods is allowed for replacement. General refunds will be at the discretion of niiStyle and must be agreed before items are returned and will be for the purchase price only.""
Therefore it looks like more hastle than its worth seeing i also paid a pathetic £45 customs fee when receieved. So i will try & see if Sony can get me a replacement asap.
If anybody has the experiance or knowledge to offer me some great advice to ressolve the matter i'm all ears. No one can feel more of a mug than me right now :/
Same old story, that everybody knows, now knows..
i'm on my second ps3 because of the disc reading problem.
Luckly, i was able to exchange it through circuit city because it was within 30 days of purchase. Now, my second ps3 did the same thing, and yes, it's under the 30 period from the time i exchanged the first one. so, i guess i'll be returning this one too. I tried a full system restore, which took wayyy tooo looong, but to no avail. It's kinda funny, but the first time i had this problem i was able to talk to a playstation customer service person regarding this problem, but the second time this happened i wasn't able to speak with a customer service person. There was a recording instead," Because of the HIGH customer service volume, please call back at a later time" LMAO.. that's a bunch of BS!! Sony is starting to piss me off. Will get refund for this peice of *&^%%$, and buy an XBOX360.. Failure to resolve this problem before production is unexcusable, and failure to address or have a fix for this problem is just as bad. I'm starting to think that Sony already knew of this problem, but released the defects anyway.. Dam sony bean counters thought it more 'cost effective' to handle problems after consumer purchase.. FK THAT
