Well if the disc's are severly scratched were the console has a hard time reading them then. or try cleaning the disc's first with a disc cleaning solution.
My only questions are does the console say the discs are damaged in any way? and is the console standing up right?
If the discs are scratched in any way then that might cause the 360 to not read the disc and sometimes having a console play the disc upright (example of upright 360) for a long time can cause dis function when trying to play discs, so try playing the discs with the console on its side (side example)
These are my solutions to the problem but you can try these:
Solution 1Solution 2
Follow these steps when you are facing "disc wont read" problem
Step 1:Remove the disc from the system.
Step 2:Use a cloth to clean in small circles around the disc (not in a big circle going around the disc). Use DVD or CD disc cleaner if available. If you use cleaner, use a different dry cloth to clean the disc no more than three minutes after application.
Step 3:Verify that there are no disc-destroying marks on the disc. Deep scratches and chips in the middle of the disc can render a disc inoperable. As your Playstation 3 is used more and more, the lens that reads Blue-ray discs can become dirty. This will lead to discs skipping or not being read by the console. If you find this is happening on your Blue-ray discs, either movies or games, you may need to have your console cleaned. Be careful when attempting any sort of cleaning of your console, as improper handling will further damage the Playstation 3. If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to
try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that
problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving
disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide,
that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It
also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a

"Unable to read the disc" / "Disc could not be read" / "Eject the Game Disc" Error Message.
If you are getting one of the above error messages:
Ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc.
If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards
If you know you are inserting the Game Disc correctly, but are still have the same problem with only one game (or if you only have one game), try cleaning the Game Disc by following the disc cleaning procedures
If after reading the above information you are still unable to play a game disc, please call 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available options.
