Check your lid switch. The lid switch is toggled by the action of the washer lid closing and it will not complete a cycle if it does not engage. It sounds like the switch may be loose and needs to either be adjusted, or tightened. If you need instructions, please post back with a brand name and model number so that I can explain how to access the switch. I hope you find this helpful.

My whirlpool duet sport washer just stops completely mid cycle and shuts down

If it has a safety switch that shuts the washer down when the lid is open, it could be going bad. It's a simple repair.

My Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II washer won't spin. It appears to do everything else; just not spin. Help?

you may have a bad drive coupling under the unit... this is a device that connects the transmission and the motor together. it has a piece that will connect to the transmission shaft and a piece that connects to the motor shaft and in between is a rubber device that connects the two together... the piece is designed to break like a shear pin on a tractor if put under to much pressure such as to much weight or out of balance it will break to protect the motor or transmission. fairly easy to replace
and not to expensive of a part..if this is not broke then it is possible the lid switch could be bad the unit is designed if the lid is raised it will shut down during operation and the same if the lid switch is bad it will not spin.. one of these 2 parts are going to be your problem...

Washer spins than it gets off balance and shuts

Hi, Washing machines can become unbalanced when the wash load has too much weight in one area of the basket. A machine in good working order can handle most problems through its balancing mechanisms. However, when washing heavy single items such as comforters, the machine's tub can become so lopsided that it damages the washer.

Washing machines that get unbalanced can shake, make banging noises, and even more across the floor. When machines are secured in one place, they can vibrate and bang so much the entire house shakes and things fall off shelves. This is not good for the washer. Bolts can come loose, and parts can break.

When washing heavy items such as pillows or down coats, stay near the washer so you can correct any balance problems as they occur. Some washers have an automatic shut-off feature when they become too far off-balance. If yours does not, stop the spin cycle, open the lid, and redistribute the load. If this is a continuing problem, you may want to wash heavy items at a coin-operated laundry in a heavy-duty machine.

Take care

Started the washer and then it stopped and machine

Try pushing the basket to the back so you can reach the lid switch housing - you should be able to re-align it by hand.
If that is impossible, that means the lid switch plastic housing broke loose and needs to be replaced.
I would need a model # so I can help you with instructions.

Kitchenaid washing machine not spinning

WHEN YOUR WASHING THE LID MUST BE SHUT BEFORE IT WILL GO INTO THE SPIN CYCLE. UNDER THE LID YOU WILL SEE A PROBE THE PUSHES THE SWITCH DOWN WHEN THE LID IS SHUT. THESE SWITCHES WEAR OUT , ONE THING TO TRY WHEN THE WASHER TRIES TO GO ONTO SPIN TAKE A NON MATALIC ITEM AND PUSH THE SWITCH DOWN AND SEE IF THE WASHER GOES INTO THE SPIN CYCLE, IF IT DOES THE SWITCH IS NOT BEING PUSHED DOWN FAR ENOUGH TO MAKE THE SWITCH WORK
THIS IS VERY COMMON ON ALL WASHERS

Hp pavilion s3015 goes to sleep at startup and does not recover

Shut down the PC by manually powering it off by holding the power button in until it is off. Start the PC. Does it boot correctly? If so, turn off all the Vista power modes.

Click on Start and in the "Start Search" block type "Power". Click on "Power Options" which should show up above the Start Search area. Put the dot in "High Performance" then click on Change Plan Settings, Change Advanced Power Settings, Click on Power Buttons and Lid, Start Menu Power Button, Click on "sleep" to reveal the other settings - select "Shut Down", then "Apply" then "OK". Close all open windows and shut down the PC using the Start button. Note the power button icon is now RED not amber as before.

Run the PC in this mode and see if the same problem occurs. If so, you have a different problem.
