It doesn't really power off, it's allways on and has an overheating issue even when it's "off" that you can troubleshoot by actually unplugging it for a few hours, it takes quite awhile to cool down. If it starts then (maybe even just a little while) then you have to cool it down inside. I removed the system main fan ($10) and put a bigger one (need to drill a few new holes) and turned it so it blew cool air into the circut area and heatsink for the amps, which is where the overheating is happening mostly, drill a bunch of holes in the upper part of the casing for proper ventilation. After messing with my system for months this was the trick never had a problem again. The error code my have a number of different problems that set it off though so this is just what worked for me.

Solution 3 (thanks to a1224imac):

  • This same error started occurring on my printer and eventually it would constantly poweron and off.
  • Apparently some defective components were used in the construction of the logic board (see photo).
  • On my C6180 there were 3 failed capacitors (the green cylinders - the puffed top indicates failure) and a 4th from the same manufacturer (TEAPO - many unfavorable web references to this manufacturer).
  • I purchased 3x 330uF 16V and 1x 680uF 10v rated to 105 degrees Celsius (total about 60cents).
  • On the logic board, the capacitors I replaced are labeled C613, C614, C660 and C662.
  • If you are not comfortable replacing the parts yourself (or don't have a soldering tool), you will have to find someone who will. The time to repair should be less than 30 min - I did it in 25 min with only a solder pen. This also fixed the ink system failures the printer was having. A similar fix may apply to other printers.

Dell backlight indicators

A computer monitor has a front-mounted LED that displays its current status and flashes in the event of an error. When an error occurs, the flashing may be accompanied by an error message on the screen. If the screen does not display an error message, the problem most likely falls into one of four common categories.

Unsupported Display Mode A video card has the ability to send output to the monitor at many display resolutions and refresh rates. However, no single monitor is capable of supporting every possible display mode. When the video card sends an unsupported display mode to the monitor, the monitor shuts off to prevent damage and blinks, or displays an error message. Standby Mode b> When a monitor detects no video signal from the computer, it assumes that you have turned the computer off and enters standby mode to reduce power consumption. Dell and HP monitors display an amber light when in standby mode. The status light on an Apple monitor blinks slowly. Incorrect Power Supply Some monitors such as certain Apple Cinema and Studio displays use external power adapters. Because different power adapters may have similar connectors, these monitors are designed to detect when an incorrect power supply is connected and blink the status LED rather than attempting to turn on. In the case of an Apple display, the LED blinks in an alternating short and long pattern. b> Backlight Failure b> A flat panel LCD display has an LED or fluorescent backlight that illuminates the pixels and makes it possible to see the contents of the screen. If the backlight fails and requires replacement, the monitor is unable to display any information. In some cases, you may be able to resolve this issue by turning the monitor and computer off, disconnecting and reseating all cables. If the monitor still has a backlight issue, it requires professional service.

Protect

The protect message indicates that a problem was found in the output stage of the amplifier. Unless this gets repaired, nothing will work. As a verification that the speakers or the wires are not the problem, unplug all of the speakers and try again. If protect still is displayed, the problem is inside the unit.
