Question about InFocus ScreenPlay 4805 Multimedia Projector

Lamp won't come on

I've a 2-year old SP4805 that I use sparingly. The last time I used it was a couple of months ago when I had hooked a computer to it. Since then the lamp would not come on when the unit is turned on. There is/was no indication of lamp failure (I've probably 300 hours of usage). I got a new lamp unit from InFocus and that did not make any difference. I tried troubleshooting the unit with InFocus' tech support who now thinks the lamp unit is probably ok.

Any helpful suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. No indicator light (green or red) -- no lamp light. Everything on the inside is clean and in good repair. Cannot figure this out. Attempted to turn the unit on one day and NOTHING !!

Unlike lewinc, my unit would turn on and the LED indicator would stay green, just that the lamp wouldn't come on. Thus, the power supply wasn't the problem in my unit.

I have the exact same problem. Powers up, green light, but no lamp. Also, I can hear a very faint cyclic noise that sound that repeats itself every 2 seconds.

I too am having the same problem. I push the power button, I get a flashing green light for a minute or so. Sounds like the projector is trying to turn on, but never does. The light then turns to a flashing red light. Has anyone had any luck fixing this? Not sure if it's the bulb, it has been very recently replaced. Thanks for any help.

I too have been having the same issue. Once powered on, I get the solid green light for a couple of second, then it starts flashing (green). Trying to troubleshoot, I removed the lamp and noticed that the color wheel spins every few seconds, witch explains the faint sound coming out of the unit everyone else is describing. The unit was only used for about 3 months (bought refurbished). I was thinking that the lamp might have burned out. It would suck to buy a $400 bulb to find out that the issue is something else.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I am having the same problem. I took the lamp out, vacuumed the dust protector (one side was almost covered in dust), placed it back in and started up, but I still get the green light, and the fan cycles on and off every 15 seconds or so. Last time that I checked the hours, I had only used about 70. I always use the low power mode. This can't be a lamp problem yet, can it? There is no way I can buy new lamp, if it is not going to last very long :(
    Any solutions yet??

I've been through the "have power but no lamp" issue twice now with my 4805. The first time, the light tunnel and the color wheel were both diagnosed to be bad by infocus, then after having my projector for almost 6 weeks, they inform me (after I finally call them to find out what's going on) that they've lost my projector. I got a refurb from them that's now having the exact same issue. I'm hesitant to replace the bulb given that symptomatically, it's likely something else. There are no auth'd repair dealers for the 4805, you have to send it to Kentucky. Hope y'all saved your boxes.

It could possibly be that the access door to the lamp is not completely shut. If you just hear the color wheel turing and no fans is definitely could be that as it was with mine. The little plastic piece on my door that presses the switch to let the projector know the the door is shut broke off on mine and I had to glue it back on.

As in Solution 3 even though the plastic piece on my door hadn't broken off it was not depressing the switch enough. When I pushed the door lightly the lamp lit and the fan began.Just ensure the switch is pushed in and you should be all right!!

I overcome this problem by removing the bulb then replacing it every time I want to watch a film. It works on mine. Rather irritating but i soon forget when the movie starts.

I dont want to be inappropriate, but would you consider selling one of your lamps now that you have 2? Thanks

It's attempting to strike the lamp, it will keep doing this for 5 times after this the led would turn to red and flashing. If it is doing this the chances are that the lamp is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Assuming that the power outlet and cable are OK (and is switched on, lol), then the most likely cause is the power supply.

It is as far as the set is concerned, it sees the lamp not on.

Hi, It almost sounds like the battery won't hold a charge anymore which means you need a new battery. Since the camera isn't quite a year old yet I'd suggest contacting Nikon and seeing if they'll do anything for you before you buy a new battery.

Makecertain that your wiring is not exposed to anything. Be sure to turn the power off to the dryerand check the outlet. Also check to seeif your dryer cord is connected to the dryer right. Usually the outer prongs on the dryer are thehot and in the inner one is the ground.

Unable to switch off projector with remote (Infocus SP4805)

A bit unusual for the projector to stop responding to the remote. Usually it follows when someone has opened the projector, they forgot to reconnect the controls from the case top which also includes the IR receiver. If it isn't that, it could be a broken IR pc board or bad connection. I've seen that.

The worst case is that the IR controller on the main board has failed and if that's the case, you'll have to live with it as the cost of a new board is very high.
