Question about Frost Inglis 17.6 Cu. Ft. -Free Top-Mount Refrigerator - Silver - IT18SKXRD

1 Answer

Inglis Refridgerator Hello I have a new fridge that is 3 mos. old. Since it's arrival I have been dealing noise issues. The fan is TOO loud and runs for ever. I just put groceries in the fridge at 2:30pm and the fan has still not shut off. I had the same problem yesterday. The fan started at 3pm and stopped at 7:30pm. Is this normal? The noise just gives me total grief. Can I open the back of the freezer and remove the fan? Thank you. Linda.

Re: Inglis Refridgerator

No the fan must stay or your Fridge will not cool, I hear this same problem from a lot of people that have new Fridges. all new fridges are louder that the older ones, check to see what setting you have your control set at. Try turning it down to 3 or B this will make it run less. other than that, if it is cooling ok. then that is just the way it is. I hope this helps

The clunking is because the compressor has a broken mount and it clunks when it shuts off... this will eventually cause bigger problems, but probably you will need to replace the compressor to fix it...even so just check that a bolt did not come loose and that it may be a simple fix...

Whirlpool Gold Fridge w/ freezer on top. LOUD banging noises.

I think the banging means the compressor is shot. (more like a load "clunk"). I had the same noise on a dehumifier.) I dont' think replacing a compressor is a DIY, and doubt it is economically efficient. But I leave that to the specialists to comment on. Check Craig's List in your area - you can get a good deal for a few hundred bucks.

Also, the "clanging noices" is probably the fan blades for the air circulator that moves cold air from the freezer to refrig compartment. Check the online manual for your model (exploded parts view) to see where it is located and if it is readily accessible by taking out a few screws inside the refrigerator. Might be more than one fan - open the door when it happens and see if you can locate where the noice is coming from. This is a plausible DIY - I did it only my old fridge - replacement parts were cheap. But you might even be able to just reallign the fan blades so they don't clang.

Loud humming noise as fridge is running

Sounds like the freezer fan is rubbing some wires or possible some foam insulation around the fan. I would look into the freezer compartment fan and go from there. The fan Will Shut off when you open the doors. Let me know how you make out and if you need anymore help.
