Question about Square Homeline Circuit Breaker

1 Answer

I have a Homeline Load Center circut breaker Catolog # HOM48l125GRB, which was installed for my spa. Each summer the spa is drained and the circut turned off. I turn it back on in the fall. However, this time it will not go on and stay up in a locked position when I flip it on. The main circut in the house breaker system is fine. Why won't it go on?

I have a 200 amp homeline loadcenter with factory installed breaker the code inspector is telling me that it has to have a bonding screw however there is no tapped hole for a bonding screw. I read that...

For the neutral buss bar, a bonding screw goes through the buss bar into the box. Same for the ground buss bar. Usually, neutral does not meet ground until the meter, so there may only be a bonding screw for the ground buss bar. Look carefully, check with electricians.

I checked my code sheet, and only the ground bus is to be bonded to the box. The box comes with a screw that will bond the bus to the box through a bus mounting hole, the threaded hole is down there, behind the bus. The neutral does not get bonded to the box.

I need a 15A GFI circuit breaker that fits into a Square D Homeline Load Center - it is not available locally - what other manufacturer's 15A GFI circuit breaker fits into a Square D Homeline Load Center?

That number in the heading is not correct. While you might find a breaker that "fits" your panel there is no other brand that is listed to work with your panel The correct number would be

HOM115GFICP If you can't find it locally, there are many locations you can order one from online. I don't know where you are locatged, but an electrical supply house or even homedepot should have one.

Wirirng a homeline 20 amp gfic breaker

You didn't indicate what the problem was. If you're connecting a GFCI breaker, you connect the white lead on the breaker to the neutral bar. You connect the white wire going to the load to the terminal next to that white wire. You connect your black wire to the load to the other ternminal on the breaker. The instructions should be on the box.

I have a 30space 200A load center from Homeline, and I have a tandem 20A breaker with the model HOMT2020. It will not lock in. the buss clip fits but the plastic case where the cut is to recieve the bus...

There are several variations even within brands. When in doubt, remove an existing breaker and take it to the hardware store with you to match the format. That way you get the right one in one trip.

I am trying to install a 100 amp breaker into a Homeline 200 amp load center. Breaker flips every time main breaker is turned on.

I'm assuming since it's a Homeline panel you're using a HOM2100 breaker. If it stripping then you must have a short circuit in your 100A circuit, or the breaker is defective. Disconnect your load from the breaker, and turn main on. Be sure you have the correct load conductors connected to the breakers. Typically red and black on the breaker, white on neutral bar. Bare to ground bar

Subpanel hookup

Yes the maximum size branch circuit breaker that will fit in a residential load center is 100 amps. I would recommend that you calculate the amount of power that you need the sub panel to handle, then add any additional loads you may need in the future. Hopefully this is less than 100 amps. I would recommend that you check with your local electrical inspector to make sure your installation meets all local and national codes before proceeding with the install.
