Hello,

Have you tried any other type of battery's ? Also were you using that same type of battery previously or was it your first time trying them ?

Try using a different type then post back and let me know what happens.

Flat Batteries

I've turned many of my customers into users of the Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries. Many people who have been ready to throw their camera away find the Energizers fix all their problems. Make sure to get the Energizer Ultimate Lithiums, as there are some lower output Energizers available too.

CAMERA MAKES THREE BEEPS AND THEN TURNS OFF LENS WONT RETRACT

Try lithium ion or rechargable batteries (maH > 2500). Alkalines (regular duracell/energizer) have trouble powering many digital cameras since they cannot sustain the amount power output necessary.

Don't know what this red thing is on the screen

There is an option for changing battery types in the menu. The accs that came with my camera where very good Lithium-Mh type. If replaced with ordinary Alkaline non-rechargable, you have to adjust battery settings, probably also if you got the very expensive Lithium-Ion batterys. The thig is that these three types has different voltages; 1.2, 1.5 and 3.2 (I think) respectivly.
Wrong settings could perhaps cause this your problem.
