Once these bad boys go bad.
You usually have to reformat them.
BUT this would certainly destroy any chance of reviving old photo's.
Try putting the stick into another USB port.
Even on another machine.

You may get lucky and have the photo's re-appear.
Copy quickly to another safe drive/CD what ever.
There are two different types of USB ports 1.0 and 2.0.

Good luck!

Recover deleted photos using mac

have you lost your photos on your memory card/USB drive?

If you appear to be a Mac user, just try this Photo Recovery app. It can nimbly recover deleted photo files, music sources and video clips from Mac hard disk drive and memory devices containing USB Drive and SD card. http://www.leawo.org/photo-recovery-mac/

Simply insert the card to your Mac and run the photo recovery app. The software may help you scan the card and then show you files it has found. Choose the pics you want to get back and hit the "Recover" button to start.

My pc doesn t boot from cd driver

If you are using a CD drive, it is probably just too old and can't read anything anymore. Try running an Optical Drive (CD) cleaning disc in it.

Why wont my computer recognize my sandisk memory card anymore

Sometimes it happens that your slot doesn't work you can use a another option like Olympus LS-10 digital recorder as a card reader for accessing the data. Insert the SD card in your LS-10 digital recorder then connect the recorder to the computer with a USB cord then it will show you two options for the onboard storage inherent and one for the SD-Card. Select first photoshop elements to read the card and then Windows Live photo Gallery to view and copy your photos.
If the Information helped you out then please give me some ratings. Thanks

Card has photos but doesn't download anymore

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Hi Angela ,
You' re probably facing a power or usb issue . Consider opening the enclosure ( will be lost , i presume ) and placing the drive in an external usb box ( available in any computer store starting from 20 $ ) to be reconnected to your pc . If this doesn' t help , it means your device is dead . There then still is a small opportunity to recover the lost data by using a recovery software like Recuva ( free ) or TenorShare Recovery ( payable ) .
This should help you solving your issue .
Best regards ,
fanaudi .

I moved my iphoto library onto an external harddrive and now when i open it, the albums are there but the pictures all show up as exclamation points. is there any way to fix this or are all my photos lost?

no, they are not lost. what that means is your mac is looking for where the photos should be, in the library, and they are not there anymore. Are you opening it from the external drive, or from your macs regular drive.
