Question about Dishwashers
Dishwasher leaks huge amounts of water front and back, makes loud noise. There are glass fragments in the hose. Hose appears to be in good condition. Not sure what the model number is, it's about 12 years old, stainless steel inside. Please help.
It sounds like broken glass shards have become lodged in the pump. You are looking at the possible need to replace the pump, and locating and repairing those leaks.
The cost of parts alone could exceed 200 dollars.
With a 12 year old unit, you may want to consider just replacing it, especially if you would need to pay a repairman to make the repairs. Your cost of repairs may actually exceed the cost of replacement.
At this point, the unit is already broken, so it couldn't hurt to remove the unit, disassemble the pump and look for the damage yourself. You may get lucky and just have a few seals to replace and a hose or two.
Here is a picture of a water pump, your should be similar and located underneath the bottom of the unit.
