You will need a special belt tool. you can buy one on ebey for $15 bucks. do not try to your hands as the belt is very tight.

you need to lie the dyson out on the floor/table and you will see some screws underneath holding the rotating brush in place, remove these with a torx bit and you will see how it lifts up to allow the belt to be replaced, just keep track of how things sit to make it easier to put back together

My DC04 showed signs of motor belt broken. This has been confirmed by following the dismantling video for DC07 for my DC04(with some differences). Have got to the clutch removal stage but cannot get it to...

Assuming you have removed the 3 screws that cover the clucth cover and removed the clutch cover, and assuming yo have taked the clutch knob off, all you need to do is grab the rubber belts and give it a good tug

Have a Dyson DC07 vacuum. The beater bar won't turn. Belt is good.

DC07s have two belts - one connects the output of the motor to the clutch, the other connects the clutch to the brush bar.
Unfortunately one of the belts is hidden under a plastic cover, so you cant see if it is okay or not without some dismantling. This cover is not easy to remove and requires a Torx driver to under the securing screws.
If both belts are okay, you have a faulty clutch. Replacement clutches are avaible reasonably cheaply on eBay, but again requires Torx drivers to remove and good DIY skills.
Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com, but unless you have access to such tools, probably time to call Dyson or a Vacuum repairer.

Broken belt

DC07s have two belts - one connects the output of the motor to the clutch, the other connects the clutch to the brush bar.
I suspect the belt you are to refering to is the one from the clutch to the brush bar. Unfortuenately the other belt is hidden under a plastic cover, so you cant see if it is okay or not without some dismantling. This cover is not easy to remove and requires a Torx driver to under the securing screws.
If, after removing the cover, the other belt is okay, then you have a faulty clutch. New clutches are available on eBay2_bing.gif reasonably cheaply, but again good tools and DIY skills are required.
Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com which has some excellent info on dismantling and repairing your machine, but unless you have access to such tools, and feel confident to tackle it, it's probably time tocall Dyson or a Vacuum repairer.

Where can you purchase a belt for the dc07?and how do you change the belt on it?

Belts can be bought from eBay, vaccum cleaner shops and Dyson direct.

Brushbar not rotating but vacuum has suction - belt not broke

At the point where the shroud is around the drive belt of the motor there is a screw that has to be remeoved. It is accessible through a hole in the housing that is inset about 3 1/2 inches. Once this is removed along with the 2 screws at the base of the clutch housing, the shroud can be removed. Interestingly enough, though, I cannot figure out how to replace the brush belt even though I feel the clutch is the broken piece. Anyway, a new clutch with belts runs about 35-60 USD.
