LG Electric Front Load Dryer door whistles!

I just bought a new front load LG Dryer - electric - and there is an air whistle noise coming from the top of the door whenever it is in operation. When I push in on the top of the door, the whistling air noise stops. There doesn't seem to be any way to adjust this door to kill the noise. Any ideas on what to do?

My dryer is making a whistling noise

Hi markbid...
I have never heard a dryer whistle, but there is always something to learn, follow the directions below and you can solve your noise problem.

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.

Note: This method works with most front loading machines.

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if you have to.
Note: Some tops hinge and tilt backwards so they do not have to be removed and the electrical console with stay with the lid.
Also remove the lint filter and the screws holding the lint filter housing in place.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer by removing two screws located on either side of the top of the dryer housing and unplug the door switch.
This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor. Now is a good time to replace the front felt seal on the drum if it needs to be replaced. Be sure to use a good grade of weatherproof cement on the seal to glue it to the drum, sometimes the glue is furnished with the seal.
Now is also a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots they will make a thumping type of noise or if there is too much wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil, or a light lubricant like Vasoline.
Reassemble the dryer.
Plug back into your electrical receptical.
This should solve your noise problem.

I have a 06 Freestar that makes a whistling noise. Very annoying and random. I can't associate it with anything. Sometimes it doesn't do it at all but mostly it does. Never when stopped or going below...

LOL , We had this issue arise before and it turned out to be that when the audio guys at American TV installed the car stereo speakers in our door , they tore the plastic sealing membrane on the inside of the door under the door panel.
To locate the leak you will need a passenger with good hearing .
drive into the wind until the noise starts and have the passenger guess which door the whistling is coming from... remove the door trim panel and be sure the membrane is intact and sealed... pay close attention to the mirror area... as they are prone to leak and cause a whistle...

Hope this helped!

Dtyer load and air not venting to outside vent

The blower motors on these dryers can be packed with lint. It is a fire hazard. The entire front of the dryer has to be removed.

Dryer does not start, makes a high pitched whistle noise.

Can your drum be stalled and the whistling is created by the belt slipping on the pulley on the motor?

Remove the top and front to look more closely at your situation.

Let me know what you find.

Dryer noise

This could be from a number of different things really. First off, where does the whistling sound like its coming from. From the front it may be coming from the seal around the door. Check the seal condition and make sure its not loose or has gaps. If its coming from the back, check the vent tube to be sure it doesnt have any holes in the hose, or has come loose. Also note that there are many gaskets inside. One of these may have come loose, but there are usually glued in. Also, be sure that your lint screens are totally cleaned, and that there is no flutter or lint build-up down below the screen itself. Let me know if these solutions dont help you out, we'll go from there. Good Luck!!!!
