Question about Fuji FinePix E900 Zoom Digital Camera

1 Answer

Bit of a serious FixYa for ya! My Fujifilm e900 has picked up sand (& possibly a little water from damp towels) probs from trips to beach. Picture quality now affected for the first time ... loads of horizontal white lines over all images, which also appear over-exposed. Any help appreciated, as I'm now discovering the common shop wisdom of 'not worth fixing/cleaning, just buy a new one'.

This is a common enough problem, and repairable if you have the patients and aptitude, with digital cameras.
You will probably find that video is un affected. This is the one clue as to your problem of white lines or over exposed pictures. The video function does not use the shutter.
I have pictures of how to clean the shutter on an E900 If you wish to try your self. My email is listed on my tips page of my profile under "THE ONLY WAY I KNOW HOW" but please remember it is not a quick or easy task to do.

Toddlers will usually spend hours in the sand, building things, making pretend food and generally just getting very messy in the sand. Buckets and spades never seem to get boring for kids, but if you want to branch out, there are sand toys that come in all sorts of shapes, such as a cup cake set or a baking set.

Solar Chargers Save your phone at the beach

Solar chargers are great for commuters who always need their devices to be charged up to 100%. While there has been a rising trend to have charging ports on trains and buses there are still places where you will find yourself without any way to charge your dying digital device.

Luckily the technology behind solar panel charging has come down in size and price in recent years. And since most of the time that you are on the go the sun is up you are able to charge your solar panel charger all day long.

My friends and I love to spend the day at the beach, but the problem with the beach is there are no power outlets to charge cell phones and ereaders. Which is fine when you are spending the day with friends because then we won't be on the phone all day, but the battery still drains.

Especially because we switch out who has to sit with the towels bags and cell phones, which usually involves them taking pictures and posting them on Facebook or them playing games. So we each have our turn to drain our cell phone's battery.

It has happened a few times that our phones have died and we had to beg someone else on the beach to lend us a phone so we could call a cab to come pick us up.

One of my friends recently picked up a solar charger and brought it to the beach on our next trip. While everyone else's phones died he was able to charge his phone up to call the cab. This inspired the rest of us that solar chargers were not as dorky as we had thought.

Now when we go to the beach there is always one person who has to sit with the bags and cell phones, as well as our little solar charger farm that we set up.

Its a funny sight all those little panels laying the sand, but we haven't been stuck with a dead battery since we got them!

We have just discovered beach paddle ball and now want to buy our own set. Where should I shop?

Beach paddle ball is very popular as a beach game these days and you can pick up sets really cheaply - see this link for an example;

but if your kids are a bit older, and you play a lot, you should consider investing in a set that has been made well and will endure many hours of hard play.

Is there supposed to be a sediment type material, like sand, in the drainage pump area right after the big black hose that comes off the bottom of the washer?

No, that's an accumulation of sediment from your clothes and/or your water supply.

The good news is that you can simply lower the drain hose and flush out the sediment accumulation. Then you can run another wash cycle with some cold water and try to get as much out as possible. If you can, you can disconnect the discharge hose at the pump body and flush it out by hand.

The issue is to figure out if you're getting all that sand from the clothes being washed or from your water source.

Sand will hasten the wear and tear on most any machine, so unless this washer is at a beach house, where you tend to get alot of sand in washers, by the very nature of towels, etc., you'll want to address this problem.

If you're on a private water well, you would be well advised to install a whole house water filter to help minimize the amount of sediment you're getting into your washer. If you're at a beach house, try to shake out the towels and other clothes before putting them in the washer to get as much sand out of them as possible.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

DSR 390 error

If you put it down on the sand you probably got moisture or sand in it or possibly both if you put it down on a towel you may have gotten sand in it, try pulling the camera apart carefully and cleaning the chip boards unfortunately salt water will actually eat the protective coating on the boards and salty sand is worse most times you can't save them, sorry hope it works for you though
