I have automatic lock on my 1996 Honda Civic which is locking/unlocking only the drivers door. What could be the reason that the mechanism is not working on the other doors? Thanks.
It has indeed a central lock mechanism. It looks that is more of an electrical connection but I do not know where to start investigating the problem. It has indeed a central lock mechanism. It looks that is more of an electrical connection but I do not know where to start investigating the problem.

THERE IS A CLIP ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR ON METAL ROD THAT GOES TO THE LOCK MAKE SURE ITS NOT DAMAGE OR FALLEN OF WHERE THE ROD GOES TO THE LOCK THERE ARE 2 ROD ONE OPENS THE DOOR THE OTHER ONE LOCKS THE DOOR
Most likely the latch itself has failed. Open the door panel and first check to see if unlock signal is getting to latch connector. If yes, replace latch. If no signal, the problem is more likely in the control module.
the solenoid may be weak, or it can be lubed. you will need to remove the door panel and see how it works, and try to lube it, or see if there is any binding.
you may need to replace the door locking actuator, they do tend to go bad over times. does the driver side door lock automatic when using the lock button on the driver side. if you can lock and unlock the driver side door with a switch, my guess would not be the locking actuator, it might be in the remote locking module.
It could be a poorly cut key. Try dropping a dollar and having another key made. If that doesn't work, you will have to go to a Honda dealer and they can make a key from the vin#
There is a Plug between the door and engine bay, it accessible through the speaker hole, but it comes loose so all prongs are not connected, thats why it works partially. should be an easy push to get em working.
