Question about Dell Latitude D505 Notebook

Hello today I had an white vertical line in the center of my PC screen Gateway E2500s series would not shut down from the tower so IV turned it off with the surge and waited a few them turned it back on now it's working again just fine. Can you tell me if it's OK or is something going wrong with the tower or screen thanks lee

You mention in your post to branded laptops. You can try to check if the problem is from the LCD or from the Video card. Connect your laptop to an external monitor and check if the white vertical line appears, if yes replace motherboard if video card is integrated, if expansion then replace video card alone. If no lines from the external monitor then laptop LCD has the problem.

IF YOU HAVE A SOLID BLACK LINE RUNNING VERTICALLY THEN YOU HAVE A FAULTY MATRIX INVERTER. IF CENTRAL THE MAIN VERTICAL INVERTER NEEDS CHANGED. LEFT = LEFT VERTICAL INVERTER RIGHT=RIGHT.........

ANOTHER WAY TO GET THIS FAULT IS WORN OR DAMAGED RIBBON/PLASTIC GOING FROM THE SCREEN MATRIX TO THE INVERTER

Averatec 4100 series white line on screen


Okay go to: Flexcode.org/lcd.html
Once there select toggle full screen, then try 2nd method. Click on ( go full screen now) Let this run for 30mins. to an hour. Keep on full screen.
Your labtop screen pixel can be stuck on that color. This should help it go back to normal. If not, I have another method. Try this one out first.
*NOTE* Do not try the Pressure Method or Tapping Method.

Vertical lines down center of Plasma TV


Because of the complexity of these sets, the fault can be much more than just a bad IC. These sets are serviced at the board level. After changing the board, calibration is done as necessary.

The fault may be in the matrix power driver output area, or in the plasma screen back-plane layer itself. This has to be determined by the process of elimination.

I can tell you in advance that this will not be a low cost repair.

First things First
1) If you can or have another monitor try and see if the problem persist.
2) RMS the monitor if you keep these problem in these particular monitor.
3) usually these, problems, its cause by a bad capacitor in the monitor motherboard, or resistor.
4) it is best to return the monitor.

sounds like a graphics card failing

is it on board graphics ?

if so try a graphics card in there see if that helps it

also if you could borrow a monitor and see if that helps

its either one or the other and is a process of elimination

Sudden color/picture distortion


you have a shorted green CRT that is affecting the other crts the short is internat to the crt that leaves what is called retrace lines. if the set is more than three years old then replace all three guns.
