Question about Gateway FPD2275W LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Dell monitor My inlaws bought a new computer but they want me to hook up their existing Dell monitor to the new computer. They don't have the diagram of what cables need to be connected. The monitor has a cable with a blue connection on it which looks familiar and then there is a cable with a white connection which I don't recognize and then there is a USB cable.

See the link below. White cable is better than blue. Don't connect both!

I just bought a top-end MacBook Air 13.3" 4 GB/256 GB for presentations. I also have a Dell M410HD projector, also quite new (a few months old), which works great with the two PCs (one new, one old)...

They (Apple) might be right. It could be that the projector is damaged, like the bulb, or it could be incompatible with your computer, but I don't think that is the case. Try taking the projector to a computer repair place.

Whenever the monitor is turned on, it displays for about 3 seconds and then goes black. what to do? It is only about 3 yrs old

One of three things is the most likely culprit.

1. Onboard video card is either disabled or bad.
2. Cable is bad
3. Monitor is bad.

You can check the last 2 relativly easily by hooking the monitor and cable up to another computer to see if they function. if they don't then first try swapping out the cable (i say this first because its cheaper) then swap out the monitor.

To see if the video card is bad try hooking up a different monitor to the system. If the new monitor is not displaying anything then you most likely will need to put a new video card in the machine.

Just got a new computer DELL Studio...hooked it to my existing monitor (big W3000 / DELL)when i leave the office & it times out....i come back in & i move the mouse but the computer does'nt cpme...

Tom, try connecting a KNOWN GOOD monitor to your PC. If it works fine for 2 hrs and will recover from "time-out" then I would think that the monitor is having a problem with it's backlighting system. Have you had any problem with black screen while doing constant keyboard and mouse movement? Try adjusting time-out settings under "Control Panel" then "Display" then "Power" and select not to turn off monitor. See if that fixes the problem. 12fixlouie

Blank screen

Disconnect the monitor , from the computer, switch the monitor on , if you have some kind of Dell self test box running on the screen. The monitor is OK . The problem can be with the video card or resolution settings.

Also, try connectin the old monitor you had hooked up with the system to check ,if you see anything

I bought a new computer and my existing Samsung 24 inch flat screen monitor doesn't work with it. I see 6 buttons on the front of my monitor but I don't know how they work. Unfortunately, if a manual came...

If you have the (white connectors) DVI cable correctly plugged into the computer, when you turn the computer on, it should recognize it and make the needed changes automatically. Maybe not if the PC was already on even though it's plug&play.

If you have the model number of the monitor, you can google for the manual.
