"lens error" will only be fixed by sending into repairs. 800-706-2534 and keep choosing option 2. Tell them you have a lens error and they will tell you where to send it.

If the noise wasn't there for 3 days and is there now, it can only get worse. I would return it for a replacement.

Camera

Grinding or clicking noises generally means that the lens drive gear has been damaged. This usually happens if the lens gets hit (when the lens is in the out (operate) position), or if the camera is in luggage or a bag and the power button is activated by something else in the bag. If the lens does not have clearance to travel this could cause the gear damage.
These gears can be replaced but you will have to carefully weigh whether these older camera is worth the cost of repair.
Sorry! I hate giving bad news.

Nikon L3 lens stuck

Hi:
Lens errors like this usually happen as a result of something damaging the lens in some way.
It could have been against something to prevent the lens from moving out.
It could have been dropped when the lens was out.
If the lens is impacted when the lens is out, damage can occur.
If there is a buzzing, grinding noise as the lens extends, then the probability of damage to the small plastic gears, internal guides or other internal lens parts is high.
What can be done is, as mentioned a few times in my posts, to hold the lens back or pull on it as the camera starts.
This may cause more damage, and may not help at all, but some cases may re-align the internal parts in the lens assembly. This may be worth a try, since the camera is useless unless the lens works right.
Hope I can give some help here on these.

Zoom error on finepixA400 camera

I had the problem with the lens being stuck out. I ended up pressing gently but with a lot of force and it collapsed while making some load clicking noises, I figured that I’d busted it, but I turned it off and back on and it worked great. I know it’s not a great fix but it might work for some of you.

SD200 E18 Error

E18 is the error that comes when when the lens is stuck, so if the lens is stuck out, turn off the camera, carefully turn the lens until you hear a small clicking noise, then turn it on. I had the exact same problem, and that fixed it for me

The lens are stuck!

If you have tried to cure this, then buy a new camera, You will have caused further damage to fine moving parts- and a repair option will almost certainly cost more money and heart ache when you find you have spent money sending to a repair shop and paying for them to look and then telling you it cant be fixed.

Broken zoom lens...

Hello This is a pretty usual type of problem. The lens assembly is composed of some lens and some servomotors that will move them around or focus them properly in order to get a sharp picture. This is a delicate part of any camera. Sometimes one of the small parts in the lens assembly get out from their positions and damages or jams other components there. Therefore when you start the camera it produces weird noises as it tries to extend the lens. A camera doesn't know where the lens are at the moment you start it. It will power up the motors for a small amount of time, as it knows that if the motor works for about 1-2 sec the lens should move and extend. If this doesn't happen the camera gets confused and gives you errors or makes strage noises as it powers on the motor but it can't move the lens because they got jamed or are fully extended. Only a service center can fix this because lens mechanisms are very fragile and require specialised hardware to be realigned or repaired. In your case it would be adviceable to ask them an estimate of the repair, for you to know if it's worth it. It can be a simple job like putting back the piece that got out of place, but also it can be a situation in wich the whole lens assembly must be changed because of extensive damage recieved when the motor forced the lens to extend. It is also a good thing to do, NOT to power on the camera anymore as it can damage itself furthermore. Sorry as I can't give you more detailed tips, this isn't the do-it-yourself type of repair, even the service centers are having problems with this repairs. Good luck however, maybe it's a simple thing.
