I have a Kenmore Model # 110.74812200 Gas Dryer with a broken belt. I can pop the top like an automobile and pull out the belt, but I can't open the front panel because I can't figure out how to separate the electrical connection socket do-hickey in the top, front right corner of the machine. It looks child proof.

All dryers open from the top so open the dryer door and look inside the top edge you will see two screws . remove the screws and lift the top panel . the front panel has two screws on the top one on the left and one on the right remove them both and lift up the front panel to remove it. the only way you can install the new belt is removeing the front panel because the belt goes around the drum from the front. once you remove the old belt out put the new one in . the belt goes around the drum from the front and then to the motor and idle roller . you can reach the idle roller from the front left corner or from the back of the dyer? i like to install them from the back cause its more easy. in the back of the dyer where the hose goes connected to the blower is the top with four screws remove the hose from the blower tube and remove the four screws. after you remove everything you should be able to see the dryer motor and idle rooler put the belt over the motor first then over the idle rooler .always make sure when you do this the dyer is unpluged and after your done plug it back and turn it on to make sure it runs correctly . if it runs ok put everything back together again.

My dryer's belt broke and I cant find the part

WE12X1001, WE12X1000, WE12M29 are the three different belts used on GE Dryers and if you go to
https://www.geapplianceparts.com/GEApplianceParts/Dispatcher and do a search on these parts you will be able to purchase them directly from GE. You will need to look at your belt and pull the number off if your belt in order to assure you get the right one. If you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

General Electric dryer belt broken

Go to www.appliancepartspros.com and put in your model number. They sell new parts. Belts is around $10. Now the hard part trying to install it. This site will also give you a breakdown of the dryer and you can see how to get to the belt. GE pretty muck whole dryer has to be taken apart. Note when removing the front, hold drum in place and put something under it to hold it from falling. You will probably have to remove it anyway to get belt around it.

GE dryer drum hits idler pulley during rotation.

The belt is most likely either the wrong size (too long) or the belt has stretched. A new belt of the correct size should solve this problem. Make sure you have the model number when you buy the belt. I recommend that you take the old belt with you and verify that the replacement is a little shorter.
