If this is the solution other things should also be difficult, closing the door, sliding the baskets etc, - your dishwasher does not have a frame in that it is not rigid if the base is not level then your dishwasher will be twisted and things will not align, on the bottom of the machine is adjustable legs, similar to a fridge, a spirit level on the top not only front to back and side to side but diagonal as well and adjust the legs hopefully fixes your problem

Sorry if this seems so simple, but try unplugging the dishwasher and plugging it back in. Ours had the same problem after our house cleaner ran it, it turned out that the cycle had been interrupted and the top-seal motor had not retracted the top-seal.
That worked for us, good luck w/yours.

Help my Hotpoint FDW70 iS FLASHING a99...............Many thanks Sarah.

A99 is a communication error. Try unplugging your dishwasher for 10 minutes and then try it again. If you still get an A 99 code that suggests a problem in the control board in the dishwasher. In this instance I recommend an engineer as it can be extremely difficult to fault find this error.

Hope this helps.

PDW8100 Dishwasher went through cycle several times, but I am unable to open the door. Is there a way to get it open? Thanks, Barbara

Hi,

When your dishwasher door has a problem, check these:

Latch
Springs
Hinges
Door seal
Latch The latch on many dishwashers is adjustable. If your door is easy to close but difficult to latch, adjust the latch to let the door close more easily. If you can't see any way to adjust the latch, yours may be fixed in a certain position. Check for other reasons for the latching problem.

If the latch has worn out in a way that makes it impossible for you to close the door properly, you probably need to replace the latch.

Springs Your dishwasher has two springs that counterbalance the weight of the door. If either or both of these are broken, the door feels quite heavy and you need to replace both springs.

Hinges The hinges are important to the door closing properly. If they're bent or deformed, you probably need to replace them. Once bent, only rarely can they be straightened well enough.

Door seal If your dishwasher is new--or if you have just replaced a door seal--the door may be difficult to latch for a week or two. If the tightness persists, though, try adjusting the latch, if it's adjustable. If it's not adjustable, there's probably nothing you can do immediately. But try running the dishwasher on the highest heat cycle to help the seal conform to the door. Otherwise, the seal should compress over time.

Goodluck..

The driver side door does not unlock - can only (central locking)

Hi:
It is extremely difficult to remove the door panel with the door closed. You mentioned that you can unlock the door with a key, so does the door still open and close once unlocked? You most likely just need to replace the power door lock solenoid, as when they fail, they usually sieze up, and make manual lock unlocking difficult.

Opened door on cycle, will not continue cycle after closing door

The most common problem for a dishwasher to not restart after the door being closed is a failed door latch interlock switch. Adjusting / repairing it is not too difficult.

Of course this assumes that the Dishwasher power circuit from the circuit breaker remains powered up.

Post back here if you are looking for more details.

Good Luck!

Difficult to pull door open and loud click coming from left hinge

I would check for obstruction in the path of the door spring areas. If appropriate, remove the bottom access panel (typically 2 screws); open/close the door in attempt to observe the inside bottom left and right for the clicking sound.

If not already done so, also ensure your dish-washer is raised of the floor a little bit; leveled and properly secured to counter top with 2 screws.
