Unit will not power up. hp invent logo on screen. tried all combos of unplugging with # and 3 or # and 6 keys to reset. is it fried?

Hi. What do you mean by input and output doors? My system is wireless so the only wire to the printer is the power cord. I tried everything and still cannot power the unit up. Why is the screen active with the "HP Invent" logo even when the power light is off?

Plug something else into the outlet to make sure the outlet is good.
IF it is
you could have a bad power cord

I had a 7410 a few years ago and it did this and it was a bad board internally. I ended up junking it.

IF you are interested I replaced mine with a canon MP530 and it has worked beautifully for me. I reccomend canon printers.

As I mentioned in another post mine had a bad board so it was fried. Where you able to locate a new power cord to se if it was bad. IT is a possibility, however if there are no frays or kinks in your power cord it should be fine.

Typically printers cost more to fix than just replace. I would recomend just replacing it.

Hi,

1.
Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
2.
Disconnect the printer data cable from the printer (if applicable).
3.
Disconnect the power cord from the printer.
4.
Wait 30 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord to the printer.
NOTE: Make sure that the Input and Output doors are open. A few printers will not turn on if the doors are closed.
5.
Reconnect the power cord directly into a working wall outlet.
NOTE: If the power cord is plugged into a surge protector or power strip, plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet instead.
6.
If the printer still does not turn on, wait 30 seconds and press the Power button again.

If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

Hope this helps

My HP Officejet 7410 Unit is powered and the HP Invent logo is displayed on the screen with the progress bar moving at the bottom, but the power button is not lit and none of the other printer functions...

Hello,

I will advice you reset the printer, follow the steps below to reset the printer,

1. Without turning the unit off, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
2. Press and hold ?# and 6? keys.
3. While holding those keys plug the power cord back in.
4. Wait until the screen goes blank before you release those keys.
5. Follow on printer screen instructions.

If that did not fix the problem, try this,
  1. Unplug the power cable from printer while the printer is powered on.
  2. Press and hold OK and HELP buttons while plugging in the power cord. Wait for the screen to go black or blank before releasing the keys.
  3. Just turn on the printer and configure your printer new.
The problem should be fix with this.

Take care.

Hi Joe,

Lets try 2 steps:

1st approach:
1. With the printer “ON” unplug the power cord form the printer.
2. With the printer now unplugged, press and hold “# and 6′ keys in the printer..
3. While still holding these keys down, plug the power cord back.
4. Wait until the screen goes blank before you release those keys.
5. Follow on printer screen instructions.

2nd approach:
1. Unplug the power cord
2. Wait for 30 seconds.
3. Plug the power cable back in the printer and turn it on.
(repeat 3 times)

If none of these to approaches work, I’m afraid the failure is “fatal” as the main circuit board might be fried L

Regards,
Ed
