If the monitor came with a drivers or profile disk, make sure to use that. Also, make sure the video card can run at that resolution. Check with the system or video card manufacturer.

You may want to post what kind of (a) system (for instance, "HP Pavilion D1321" (to make one up) ) and/or video card (from display properties - "Plug and play monitor on nVidia MX400") as well.

Every time I sign on I get a pop-up saying Input signal is wrong & I need to set it to 1600x900 60h

The operating system is detecting that the video resolution is incorrect for the monitor attached to the device. It is recommending that you change it to 1600x900 at 60Hz. This may not be what you want. As long as the resolution and refresh rate are within the limits of the monitor, you can set it at any value that you wish. Of course, anything less than optimal may degrade picture quality and can cause distorted images. If you have the correct settings, then what may be the problem is that your OS may not be seeing the correct monitor or you may have a corrupted video driver. To change the resolution and refresh rate in Windows XP is easy. Anywhere on the background of the desktop, simply right click. Select the "properties" option. On the Display Properties window, select the "Settings" tab. Then click the "Advanced" button in the lower right corner of the settings page. Next select the "adapter" tab. O the next page, click the "List all Modes" button near the bottom. Scroll down the list to select 1600x900, True Color (32 bit), 60 Hertz, then click OK. When that page closes, click APPLY on the Adapter page. The screen will update. If the screen goes blank or unreadable, don't worry, there is a 15-second time-out and the previous resolution will return. If the screen updates correctly and you are satisfied with the results, click the Yes button on the popup before the selection times out.

Connect my Acer monitor to my digital cable box.

Not sure what your cable box outputs but connect your cable box to a tv and try changing the resolution of your cable box to 1600x900 or less if there is such a setting; the monitor will not display resolutions higher than 1600x900

Can't get 1600x900 Resolution

Your graphics card may not be able to display this screen resolution.
Open Control Panel - Display - Settings tab and move the slider on the Screen resolution - to get as close to 1800 X 900 then click apply.

Change the resolution on my Samsung B2030 LCD Monitor

1600X900 is a higher resolution than that of 1280X1024. Therefore 1600X900 is a better resolution. If you would like to run at the lower resolution simply right click your desktop screen and click properties. Then on the settings tab use the slider bar to adjust the resolution. Lower to the left and higher to the right. If the desired resolution is unavailable then you could try downloading and installing the latest drivers for your graphics card installed in your computer.

Your card will either be AMD/ATI Radeon or Nvidia. You will need the model number of the graphics card, the latest drivers may increase resolution support for your card.

Also look on the bottom right hand side of your screen for an Nvidia Control Panel logo in green. Right click it and select the option to "change screen resolution" This may provide you with additional resolution options.

Take care!

This may sound ridiculous, but I recently spent two weeks troubleshooting a monitor that wouldn't display properly. Turns out it wasn't plugged in all the way. Make sure that it is plugged in properly, and that your computer/device is displaying TO that monitor.

The resolution option can be found by right clicking on the desktop and click properties. Then go to the settings tab. That is where you will be able to adjust the resolution settings for your monitor.

Thanks for using FixYa!

Resolution capabilities are a complicated blend of the abilities of your graphics card and the abilities of your screen. You will not always get a 1:1 match. You can improve your chances by installing the "monitor information" file that is usually supplied on a CD that comes with the monitor. Also, updating the drivers for your graphics card (see the manufacturer's web site) might help.

Screen monitor images on the righ side is not showig.

Hi afcarrillo,

This could be a simple resolution problem. By that I mean that the resolution is set too low, therefore putting things off screen. Here's how you change the resolution:

Windows XP

Right click the Desktop and select Properties. Click the tab all the way on the right that says settings, and drag the slider to your native resolution of 1600x900

Windows Vista

Click Start, Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, Personalization, Display Settings and drag the slider to 1600x900

Windows 7

Simply right click the desktop, select Screen resolution and pick 1600x900

If you do not have a resolution problem, then it's most likely the monitor itself. Most often times you can fix it one of two ways:

1. Some monitors have a button that says "Auto" which will auto adjust your monitor. If you have one, try it.

2. If that didn't work or you don't have one, go through the monitor's OSD (on screen display) and work through the settings so that you can manually adjust it and set it to your taste.

Hope this helps :)
