NIGHT SHOT USED W/ TOO MUCH LIGHT MAY HAVE WRECKED IT.

HELLO, WE BOUGHT THIS CAMERA FOR CLOSE TO $800.00 FOR OUR DAUGHTER & SON-IN-LAW WHEN THEIR FIRST CHILD WAS DUE. WORKED GREAT FOR A FEW YEARS & ONE TIME THEY USED THE NIGHTSHOT WITH TO MUCH LIGHT & NOW IT RECORDS DARK, BUT THE SOUND IS FINE. IT PLAYS BACK PREVIOUSLY RECORDED TAPES FINE & I CAN USE IT TO RECORD MOVIES TO MY COMPUTER. THE BITS & PIECES I CAN GET FROM OTHERS VIA THE INTERNET IS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CCD LENSE???? AND ALSO THAT SONY IS A REAL PAIN TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF THROUGH, & VERY EXPENSIVE. CAN I ORDER THIS PART(S) & REPLACE IT MYSELF? I'M FAIRLY HANDY. THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

"Nightshot" mode removes infrared filter from light path, fixes exposure to 1/60th second and sets iris to maximum.

Probably bad CCD, possibly could salvage from another camera.
Cameras are easy to take apart, but ribbon cables are VERY delicate and difficult to remove from connectors on main board.

My suggestion is to buy another camcorder, which uses the same tape and to use the old one to rewind tapes and for video transfers.

Won't come on. I have replaced batteries a

So, you have purchased 100 batteries and none of them worked! Now you have spent $15 on rechargeable ones and they didn't work either. At $.50 a battery and adding the rechargeable ones, you've spent $65 on batteries and you still "love this camera"? I think your daughter deserves something better. So do you.

Camera completely dead after all-night charge

try resetting the camera using a toothpick or a paperclip. There is a small hole on the tripod thread on the bottom side of the camera. I hope it helps.

Black photos at nite with flash

It's very difficult to pinpoint an issue with what you've given here. Particularly since flash photography at night can be hit or miss anyway.

I actually wrote a review for Popular Photography & Imaging on your camera... You can read it here:

http://www.popphoto.com/Reviews/Cameras/Camera-Review-Sony-Cyber-shot-DSC-T10

And while I really LIKE your camera, it does have its' limitations, particularly with the flash at night. It's small and not very powerful in comparison to a full-size/feature flash unit. Because of this, here's a few things you should keep in mind when you shoot at night with a flash:

Allow the flash enough time to "recycle". In other words, when the flash fires, it needs to replenish power to make another full-power flash exposure. If you're shooting images very quickly, you may not be at full power for each frame. The T10 has a flash-ready indicator, so make sure it's activated before you shoot your images.

Stay close- There's a thing in photography called the "Law of Inverse Square". Basically, this means that when you double your flash-to-subject distance, your light intensity is cut down to ONE QUARTER of your previous distance. The T10 has a very small flash, so this becomes critical for good images.

Be reasonable in your expectations. The T10- or any other camera-mounted flash for that matter, won't light an entire stadium or something that's more than 10 feet with your flash or 50 feet with a full-power/size flash.

If you're following these guidelines, and you're still having issues with dark images, try upping your ISO to a higher setting to add some sensitivity to the sensor. Doubling your ISO cuts the light required to make a good exposure in half. If you've done this and the images are still black, you may want to take the camera to a repair shop for evaluation.

I shot several photos that should be included with the story on POP's web site, so you can see that the camera IS capible of shooting some nice flash image, but again, were done with an understanding of the camera's limitations.

Hope this helps you out!

Night picture

Set it to the highest ISO that you can. Then set it to auto mode, or nite shot, or set the shutter to 60th of a second.

Kodak md853

hi! my sister-in-law gave me a MD853 camera last week from Canada. I used it over the weekend when we went on a trip and the pictures and videos i took were great. Last night, my daughter took a picture of me and when she took a picture of her brother, there was only white on the screen...like a moving white sheet with colored edges. I thought she destroyed it or something. I tried to use it but now the screen is all black...last night only the video worked but this morning everything is black. The other programs in the camera works so i suspect the problem must be in the lens. I'm in the Philippines and if I send it back to Canada for repairs it would just take a long time and it will be expensive to send it back. What can I do? I really love this camera... help!!!
