Yes, you can replace that ring.
I believe you have a front loading machine, if so then you will need to remove the front of the machine to expose the ring, drum and belt.
Try this website and see if they can supply the part you need.
Good luck, I hope this helped

I have an older Kenmore 70 series dryer. When I push the start button nothing happens. I know its not the electrical outlet.

Your thermal fuse is bad located behind access panel between fan and exhaust. Little white plastic fuse with 2 blue wires connected to it. Rate me if I helped you. Thanks and good luck!

Dry is not heating.

Hi, Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.
Also on many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer Model# 110.64742400

check the thermal fuse if it is blown also change the high limit thermal cut-off fuse www.repairclinic.com shows your parts. go there and enter model number. Also check the heat element. to get into it remove the lint filter and the two screws you'll see there then pry the top up at the front corners. And through the back you should find the heat element and blower housing and thermal fuse and high limit fuse and cycling thermostat.

My kenmore 70 series dryer will not dry clothes, but it does heat up inside and lets hot air out the dryer vent on the outside of the house.

make sure the dryer vent and the house vent are not clogged with lint this will slow down the drying process-mike

Kenmore 70 series electric

As the push switch is sitting in its housing, the two red and white wires connect to the top contact (the one that splits into two). You should be able to tell which is top and which is bottom by the way they have routed themselves over time.

The black wire connects to the bottom contact, and the plastic clip connects to the side contacts (the left side as you are looking at the front of the dryer).

You can verify the connections on the diagram on the inside of the rear panel, which you should always do before connecting the wires and turning the dryer on.

Dryer putting black smears on clothes

The white plastic pieces just inside the font of the drum are the front bearings there are aboutfour of these, you will need to take the front of the machine to put them in, your clothes are probably picking up black smeres from where the plastis bearings have worn.
