(Toshiba Satelite Laptop- Panasocic Viera TV) After connecting the Laptop to TV, via HDMI cable, nothing is displaying on TV. What settings do we need to use, to configure the two?

First you may want to go to the TV's menu and select the input to which you have plugged in the HDMI cable.

Second, on the laptop you will have to press a key combination to change the display from the built-in LCD screen to the external output.
It is Fn + F5 on most Toshibas, you will have to look for a function key with an icon symbolizing a internal/external screen like this:
malkontent68.jpg

It works like a 3-way toggle; when you hold the Fn key and press F5 repeatedly it circles through the following options:
- internal LCD only
- internal LCD + external monitor (both)
- external monitor only

If you want to see the picture on the LCD as well, you have to stop at the "both" option, but the resolution will be limited to the one of your laptop screen.
If you want to use the full resolution of the TV (like Full-HD) you need to stop at the "external" only and adjust your laptop display settings to optimum/maximum resolution for your TV.

Please come back and rate the solution if helped or post a comment for further assistance.

My HP Pavillion M70 monitor is saying "video cable connected?" when I try to use the monitor. I am trying to output my laptop to the monitor because my laptop screen is wearing out, but I cannot get it to...

go into the BIOS settings and tell it to use the LCD/Monitor as a display.

or

press fn key+(F5 or F7 or F8) 1x or 2x or 3x.....

Fn key combination. The Fn key is located at the lower left of the keyboard, normally between the CTRL and the ALT key. Toshiba uses Fn-F5 to toggle between the laptop LCD and an external display. IBM or Lenovo uses FN-F7, Acer varies with the model, using Fn-F5, Fn-F3, Fn-F8, Sony Fn-F7, Dell Fn-F8, HP or Compaq, Fn-F4. There are variations with the age of the laptop and not all manufacturers have standardized on a key combo across the whole range, but you can usually figure it out from the little graphics on the function keys that line the top of the keyboard.

Trying to connect hp pavilion laptop to tv with an s video cord but cannot get a visual on the tv

Hello,
When the hardware connection is made: S video in laptop port and S-video in TV there remain two things to do.
1. On the computer, extend your desktop to show on the TV. On my laptop I press Fn-F5, and an OSD appears. I can choose the output to the TV and the internal LCD by holding the Fn key while pressing the F5 key. Each time I press the F5 key the focus moves to another icon (TV only, Monitor only, LCD and monitor, etc.)
Once you know how to externd the display or divert it to the external screen, you can take care of the TV.
On the TV remote (the easiest way), there must be a key labeled AV, AUX, or some such thing. Once you press it, and OSD appears on the TV screen giving you several input options :TV, AV, S-Video, PC. Select S-Video. It will tell you no signal if you have not yet diverted screen output of laptop to it.
Use the Fn-Fx key to send the signal to the TV.
This may not be the way to configure the connection for your laptop-TV combination, but I am venturing it anyway in the hope that it will help you solve the problem.

However there are no better sources of information than your laptop manual, and the TV user guide.

Can't get my notebook screan to show

hello,
Indentify the video output options of the computer and the input options of the projector. Most common are VGA and S-Video. use the appropriate cable to connect the two. Your projector may be able to probe its ports to see what signal it is getting.
On your computer. After you make the hardware connection and your projector is set to receive on the correct port, extend your desktop to show on a TV if S-Video, or on a monitor if VGA. To have the screen of your computer to appear on the external screen, use the FN-Fx key combinations. Examine the laptop`s function keys and look for some icon that shows a computer and a screen. Most probably it is the F5 key.
Assuming F5 to be the right key, you press Fn-F5 and an OSD will appear on your computer. You scroll from an icon to the other by pressing F5 while still pressing down the Fn key.

If that does not work, I suggest you check your computer s manual for the right key combinations.
Hope it helps.

My laptop toshiba S1 is not showing anything on the LCD. it will only show that power is on

This could be coz of three possible reasons, the connector cable problem, RAM got damaged or the LCD is damaged. Try removing ram and start the computer again, if u will see something on the screen, u should replace the RAM, if this does'nt work, u have to take the computer to the service center to check the connector cable or LCD, hope this is helpful

Toshiba Satellite L25-S1194 attached to TV monitor can't get display on laptop at same time HELP!!

Hello,

Connect your TV to the computer with an S-Video cable. Turn the TV on and choose the AV option (of your TV) to S-Video. It will tell you that there is no signal on the TV.Press the Fn key on the keyboard. While keeping that key pressed, press the F5 key. A small rectangle appears on the screen showing different connection possibilities (LCD, LCD +TV, LCD+CRT, TV only, CRT only). You can cycle through the options by pressing F5 repeatedly. You select the output option (TV + LCD).Release the keys . You will then have your two screens.

Note: I assumed you connect the TV through the S-Video. If your TV can be used as a monitor (it has a VGA adaptor), then with the F5 key select option LCD and CRT

Hope it helps
