Sounds like your replaceable flex shaft is twisted off. If you find that it is, make sure, you have plenty of grease on the new one before replacing it.

Starting procedure

Terry: According to eHow.com:

"
  • Put on a pair of safety glasses. Remove the fuel cap from the Weed Eater and set it aside. Fill the fuel tank with unleaded gasoline that has been mixed with quality 2-stroke oil in a 40:1 ratio. Replace the fuel cap.
  • Move the Weed Eater to a safe place and lay it flat on the ground. Depress the fuel bulb located beneath the carburetor approximately six times to prime the engine. Press it slowly so that fuel has adequate time to traverse the fuel line.
  • Slide the handlebar-mounted engine "On/Stop" switch to the "On" position. Slide the choke lever beneath the fuel tank to the "Full" position.
  • Depress the "Throttle Lock" lever located beside the engine "On/Stop" switch. Keeping the lever depressed, squeeze the throttle trigger. Release the throttle lock. This sequence holds the trigger in the depressed position, which aids in starting the Weed Eater.
  • Roll the Weed Eater so that it is resting on the engine and the trimmer head shield only. This will allow the spinning trimmer head to avoid contact with the ground. Brace the Weed Eater by holding it to the ground with one hand. Using your other hand, pull the starter rope quickly until the engine begins to run. Do not pull the rope more than a dozen times. If it fails to start by then, squeeze the throttle trigger and continue to pull until the engine starts.
  • Allow the Weed Eater to warm up for about 15 seconds, then slide the choke lever to the "Off" position. Let the trimmer run for another minute without touching the throttle lever. After the Weed Eater has warmed up, squeeze the throttle trigger once to disengage the throttle lock. The trimmer is now operational.

I have a ryobi x 430 string trimmer. The timing belt came off as mentioned in other postings and I put it back on according to online tips. It ran well for a while. Now, it is hard to start, but it...

It is possible that the timing gear jumped a tooth. Take off valve cover and check to make sure timing marks line up. Other than that check other things like carb adjustment, good gas, air filter and other general tune up things.

When I pull the trigger on gas Trimmer the head does not rotate?

sounds like the wire inside the two piece shaft is not making proper contact or that drive wire snapped. loosen the plastic knob and pull them apart then push the two pieces back together again. if it still doesn't spin, listen for a rattling noise somewhere inside the shaft, it could be a break.

It sounds like a warranty issue, up at the engine you have a centrifugal clutch bolted to the flywheel, as the engine speeds up the clutch expands and engages with the drum, this in turn rotates ans turns a flexible shaft within the tube, this engages into the gear box and turns the gears that turns the head, so i would say the flexible shaft is either slipping in the drum, or the tube or gearbox has moved out board so is now too short to engage into the drum.

My TB70SS cranks and runs perfect! The problem is the clutch seems to not engage. The head will spin at idle speed, but, when I pull the throttle trigger, it seems to bog a bit, and the head almost quits...

There may be an issue with the clutch or the clutch drum. Some disassembly may be required if the string head doesn't spin quickly when accelerating the engine. The clutch itself is threaded onto the crankshaft of the engine near the handle end and the clutch drum is screwed into the end of the crankshaft. If you can disassemble to that point, you will be able to diagnose your clutch problem...maybe it is worn severely and needs replacing.

The shaft houses the cable that drives the spool to spin. It sounds like the cable has snapped in two. It is easiest to remove the spool amd pull out the cable to see. Replacements are sold at most gardening centers

    Model P3314 throttle is stuck

Remove the air cleaner assembly to see the carburetor throttle mechanism and open the handle so that you can access the throttle trigger. There should be either a cable or wire connecting the trigger to the throttle arm on the carburetor. Try moving the trigger and see if it responds at the carburetor. Is the carburetor arm against the idle stop screw, wide open, or some where in between? There should be a spring at the throttle arm that returns the arm to the idle stop if the cable/wire is disconnected. The trigger mechanism may be jammed with sawdust to prevent movement. Hope this helps!
