What i wanted to do wasput a 9600 GT LOw profile GeFoce vidio card into a S3120n. I guess by doing this i need a new power supple, i was thinking of using either ATX pwer supple or the SHutlePc450w, which would be better, also is ther something extra (PART 0 ineed to hook the motherboard (ASus M2NC51-AR)to the new power source.

You should not need a new powersupply for this unit the 160watts installed should be more then enough to power your unit with out any problems. Is recommened that if you do decide to purchase another power supply make sure its a HP type . Step 3b: Ordering an upgraded power supplyIf you want to upgrade the power supply, there are additional things to consider. When adding or upgrading system components, such as memory, optical drives, or video cards, make sure that the power supply you purchase has a wattage rating equal or higher than the total combined wattage of all internal PC components. Since finding the wattage needed for each component can be extremely difficult, you can use the following general method to find a power supply that will properly provide power to an upgraded system: Find the power consumption rating of each new component that will be added to the computer. Total the power consumption ratings from all the new components. Add the power supply rating of the original power supply to the total. The formula for these three steps is: Original max power supply rating + Power consumption rating of new components <= New power supply max ratingNOTE: You can subtract the power consumption rating for devices that will be removed when upgrading. However, it is better to have a higher wattage number in the event future upgrades are needed. Purchase and install a power supply that has the same or better wattage rating than the total. For example, when installing a new video card that has a power consumption rating of 230W, and the original power supply was 250W, you can install a power supply that is 480W or greater.

You are not the only one having this problem with the HP slimline systems. The facts are HP doesn't make a 300watt power supply for your slimline. To make things worse HP uses a special small 24-pin main power connector. Power supply, Slimline dimensions are:
3.25" Wide X 1 5/8" Tall X 6" Deep. The highest PS I could find that will fit in your case is 270watts. Also made by HP;
http://www.atxpowersupplies.com/270-watt-HP-slimline-power-supply-FSP270-60LE-SL.php
This should work for you. The only other option would be to replace your slimline case with a standard ATA size case. Than your options for power supplies is endless.

Cheers!
Mike

HP slimline 7320 needs larger video card

I checked out the specs on your computer, and it does have a single upgrade slot, of the PCI variety. Don't confuse this with PCIE, which is totally different.
To make it fit in your PC, some video cards come "low profile ready", which means the circuit board is narrow enough, and they include a narrow bracket for mounting in the slim computers. They leave it to you to switch out the bracket, which is usually a couple of screws. Pretty easy to switch out.
There is two major drawback to this suggestion:
  1. PCI is not the preferred connection for graphics cards (it has a slower interface, and thus lacks pretty much all more powerful cards).
  2. You may have to remove an existing card (a modem, or network card, perhaps) to make it available.
If you are a gamer (you want to play 3D games on it), I would hold off and save your pennies for a more capable machine. This is not it.
Otherwise, there are several acceptable (not great, but OK) low profile cards out there. Look for low-profile and PCI in the description. I know newegg has a bunch of different models available in the $35-175 range. Just make sure whatever you get is low profile & PCI.
That should get you going. Let me know if you have other questions.

Hp s3120n slim line freezing up

Sounds like a video issue. What OS is on the machine? Try updating the video card drivers. If the OS is Windows 2000 or older, update your version of DirectX as well.
If that doesnt work, check system resources. Low memory, and low hard drive space can be a cause.
If all else fails, replace the mouse. Mice are very inexpensive now. Keep us posted.
