Machine is slowing down if it has to change the speed. So if design contains a lot of long stitches or not optimized it will be sewn slow. If your software is surely updated to the latest version and still machine is sewing slow then probably you need to optimize your design.

Probably needs a bit of oil. Someone once told me they use a bit of olive oil in the workings and try sewing on an old bit of calico/cloth. Hope this helps
They occasionally need oiling. You should have received a tube of oil when the machine was purchased. If you don't have any, try to find Tri Flow oil available at bicycle shops or Amazon.com. If you are unable to find it, you can use machine oil but not 3n1 oil. These are excellent machines and I still have mine. It may be well worth having it serviced at an authorized husqvarna viking dealer.

(type the model number in the manual search box) and it doesn't show exactly where to oil.
If you can get a small can of light oil with a fine spout (like 3 in 1 or similar) then just put a tiny drop of oil on each pivot and spindle. You should be able to see where there was once oil before.
Use only a tiny amount or it will make a mess.
