Question about Kenmore 55612 / 55614 / 5561 / 655619 Side by Side Refrigerator

Refrigerator door doesnt close easily

There is a half round "hook" close to the refrigerator side and under the door. It looks like something that may be part of the door hinge. It has never shown before, but is showing now.
A simple push of the door no longer closes it.
Do I need to call a repairman to have it fixed or is there something that can be done by my husband?
Thanks for any help you can offer Sondra

Need gaskets for CSX20E Hotpoint side by side

Seals don't lose their magnetism. Check the door closes all the way round and adjust the hinges if it doesn't sit straight. Check there isn't a relief valve frozen up or blocked (it allows air to escape when the doors are closed). Check the drawers are fully pushed back in and not stopping the door closing properly

Hi, I just found a leak in the back of the fridge from the green water line. Is it something I can fix easily or should I have an expert take a look?

If water appears to be leaking from the back of the refrigerator, check that the water line from the household water supply to the refrigerator is not damaged or cracked. Check all connections that are accessible such as the connection at the supply valve and the connection point of the supply tubing onto the back of the refrigerator. Check that the tubing is firmly inserted into all fittings and all fittings are tightened.

Leaking from under the door

On exterior dispenser models, if water appears to be leaking from under the refrigerator door, look and feel under the door to ensure the water connection to the dispenser is properly done. Firmly push the water tubes into the fitting.

NOTE: This connection was disconnected if the doors were removed during installation or if the door swing was reversed.

Brake Masters sprayed product to remove moldy smell from AC vents. The next day, one half side of the AC began to blow warm air, and the other continued to blow refrigerated air as it should - what is...

chances are they did not hook up a vacume line that goes to a actuater the opens and closes one of the vent doors under the dash you can look under there and should be able to see the two lines running down from under dash on the passenger side follow them.

Main door doesn't close easily

You may well need to purchase those bottom end parts to correct your problem. But first.....

Spray the door gasket on the hinge side with a food compatible
silicon spray. (makes it slippery).

Remove the heavy items from the door, and loosen the screws on the top hinge and try to adjust the door for a better fit.

I am finding water on the top shelve of the refrigerator as well as under the vegetable bins. Is there something I can do or is it time for a new refrigerator? Not sure that is the model number, had this...

The water is probably condensation. If you are in a humid area and the refrigerator is opened and closed often the humidity in the air will condense on the cool surfaces of the shelves and sides and will run down to the bottom of the refrigerator. If it is very old the door gasket may be deteriorated and leaking air into the refrigerator. Check it by closing the door with a dollar bill sticking out. If you can pull the bill out easily when the door is closed the gasket should be replaced.

I have a whirlpool the refrigerator door will not stay close.

It shouldn't be pushing the door itself...you see the magnet that is used in the refrigerators are not repulsive. It doesn't get weaken that easily but what you can do is check if there isn't something bulging out of the fridge and pushing the door...take out all the things from inside and then try closing the door again. If door opens up again then definitely you have to look for a new gasket.

Refrigerator door stays open.

Sears came out and repaired my door with this same problem. It was a pretty easy fix. There is a small black part that the door rests on. It just was worn out. The repairman simply unscrewed the door from the top of the refrigerator. He lift the door off. The door normally rest on a black round circular plastic part about 1 in in diameter. It has a small plastic piece sticking up about 1/2 inch that the door rests on. This piece was worn on bottom. I have the Sears invoice and I bought a replacement bin for the door and I don't know which item is for the black plastic piece. Here are both part numbers so call Sears and order the correct part
CAM-DOOR 46 106 4318165 1 or $14.83
SUB TRIM-DOO 46 106 2156022K 1 $12.48
It took the Sear's guy about 10 minutes to repair. So save yourself $200 and do it yourself.

There is a picture of the part in the Whirlpool Manual, under Door Removal, look at the bottom hinge.

Email me if you need another picture.
