You may need to use a Y adapter to feed pressure to both inlets to get the machine to fill. If it senses no pressure on one inlet it wont fill. You can run both inlets to on source. Since you did not post the model number it is hard to say. Some machines also test the water temp to see if it is warm enough to start or it needs to preheat.
If your washer is filling until it overflows without agitating, and will stop filling if you turn machine off or interupt power to it, the machine is not seeing that it is full. This may be caused by a blocked water level tube (usually some "goop" where it connects to the tub), a hole in the water level tube (look near the suspension rod or where a mouse may have chewed a hole in it), or a bad water level switch. You do not state a model number, or even if it is a top loading or front loading machine, so that is the most information I am able to provide at this point.
I believe you need a new belt. The weight of the water is to much for a loose belt that is connected to the agitator.
2. Make sure nothing is blocking the safety shut off located on the machine.
It sounds like the switch that controls the water level is stuck ,thereby telling the controller that it is already full of water, causing it to start agitating right away.
Give the top of the console panel a good tap, this may release the switch if it is stuck.
If this does not work, then possibly the pressure hose is blocked that controls the switch.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
maytag washer dryer stack unit , model # lse7806ace washer fills with water but won't agitate or do anything else. I had the same problem a year ago and replace the lid switch asssemby and fuse and it worked fine until now. the switch clicks when I open and close the lid and the pink and orange wires show continuity with the lid closed.
