Question about HP Pavilion a420n PC Desktop

1 Answer

My computer works fine for awhile after turning it on, but at random times it will all the sudden freeze up. I had a full screen program running and a cd playing music on my dvd rom drive while ripping the music off of it. I've had it freeze up just running the full screen programs. Any advice?

Time to clean house or computer!

Remove all unwanted programs, free trials and any versions of AOL

Run a virus scan and malware scan

Get a good software for cleaning the registry

Disable all windows startup items by going to run, msconfig

Disable limewire from starting up with PC (if you have this program)

Run a defrag and delete all temporary internet files, cookies, etc.

This will help!

Freezing upon start up of computer

The best solution for you amanda would be to do a complete re-installation of Windows Operating System. As you can log in via Safe Mode, run the Recovery Manager from there so that your laptop is being set to Default Factory Settings.

Also, if you found it hectic, then here are a few tips to get your system going:

a) From Safe Mode, uninstall your antivirus program.

b) While in safe mode, restore your computer to an earlier restore point where you think the computer was working fine.

c) From Safe Mode, uninstall the programs which runs while you log in the windows

My hp Compaq nc 6320 suddenly freezes in the middle of a program or usage. nothing work. i end up pressing the power button to turn it off. what can help?

Sounds like your on an older HP laptop. There are many reasons why your computer is freezing up. See below.
1. Too Much "Stuff"' - Your computer might be running to many programs, and that is causing a problem. I would suggest running ccleaner (google this and you will find a program to download). That can take of a few issues. Run the cleaner and do the Register scanner.
2. You might have a bad or corrupt program that you are running. If the same program or application your running keeps locking up your computer, then I would suggest re-installing or removing that program.
3. Virus - You might have a virus on your system that is causing a problem with some application and that would cause your computer to freeze. I would suggest using malwarebytes (google it) to see if you have an infection on your system.
4. Bad Hardware - If your memory stick(s) are bad, then your system can freeze randomly. It is difficult for a user to test for this problem without some know how. I would suggest googling how to test your computer memory to understand how to troubleshoot this problem, if this is indeed the case.

Good Luck.

IMAC SCREEN FREEZES OR GOES BLACK.

same thing happens to me - most of the time it will just randomly freeze; occasionally i get an unresponsive black screen. this 24' aluminum imac usually has startup problems also - sometimes it will "gong" and nothing else; sometimes the apple logo will come up and then nothing else; sometimes it will load the logo and then spin for a few seconds and then freeze - the only option is to manually shut down. there is no rhyme or reason to it

Eee 1005ha keyboard and touchpad suddenly freezes at random times

Mine does the same. I don't know what it is. It's not that it's frozen up because every program I'm running continues to run and when I press the power off button it brings up the choices to turn off restart or stand by.

Gateway freeze randomly it just screen freeze

If you can, download Combofix, Vundofix, smitfraudfix, and malewarebytes.

Boot the computer in Safemode, and then run each program, one at a time of course.

If this doesn't fix the problem, then it will at least verify that it's not a virus related issue.

Random freezes

Make sure that your computer is malware/spyware and/or virus-free! =)

Also run ... msconfig (system configuration utility) then got to system tab > check hide all Microsoft Services > disable all

Go to Startup tab > click on disable all

Restart computer

If issue was solved, problem is software related (could be a program /virus /malware).

If the same issue occurs, run diagnostics since more likely than not , this could be a hardware issue. (You might want to send the pc to a service center)

Thanks.

Laptop sudden poweroff randomly

I googled "fujitsu laptop forum" and read a couple of posts and it may be an AC input jack problem. If the computer does this without the battery and only AC plugged in then you could assume it's not the battery or charging circiuts. Some laptops get mother board problems but that was not what I read. It wouldn't hurt to go to http://forum.notebookreview.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7 and post your problem. good luck.
